That is a wonderful weight loss. I do think that our own control over food itself is sometimes liberating in itself! Best of luck on your quest for weight loss and health!

My biggest problem is cutting out things that I have always thought good for a diet, such fruits, yogurt and high fiber cereals. These items are so convenient and be taken or picked up anywhere.

just as long as you don’t put anything , flour ,shake@bake etc on it , we
all enjoy chicken . Parmesian cheese is a good substitute for flour and it
taste great.
How about… coat the chicken in Paprika, salt, and cayenne pepper….fry in Peanut Oil. Good stuff. I have done lil wings like this. You use what ever mix of seasoning you want to flavor the chicken. Peanut oil adds a nice touch.

I am on day four and the cravings are getting better. I also feel better than I did on my low-fat diet. I feel a lot better on the Atkins. I am not hungry all the time. Thanks for the advice about the candy bars. I am going to go buys some tomorrow.

I too did the diet when it first came out. Didn’t last too long because it was so boring. Today, it’s a snap with all these great low carb foods. I even found a beer (love one occasionally) that is 2.6 carbs. I’ve been on the diet 3 1/2 weeks and have lost 15 pounds. Until trying Atkins again I had come to the point of thinking I would die fat. I also started taking supplements and they helped other problems I had been having. I feel so much more healthier than when I was cramming sugar. I think sugar caused a lot of problems other than just weight gain. Bobbi
You really do need to take the supplimental vitamins and fatty oils and
other things as it says in the Book and all the resources. I felt the same
way until I started taking them. Helped a great deal.
I did this diet wayyyyy back when the first book came out. I felt awful and
was not sure if I could do it again. So I bought the new book and the
updates are a great deal different than the first book.
Multi-vitamins and other essencial nutrients are needed while on this diet.

Hi, my anme is Kelly and I have been doing the diet for about 3 weeks, but I
do drink on the weekends and some people told me it was
okay to drink brandy with a diet pop. is this okay to do? Also, I was
wondering what vegtables I was able to eat and which ones to
stay away from. if any one can answer me, it would be appreciated. Thanks.
Hi Kelly,
No, its not ok to have any alcohol during induction. I mentioned this yesterday but when you go into induction, your body stops bring carbohydrates and it starts using fat for its fuel and with this, we lose weight. When you drink alcohol, your body will stop burning fat and burn alcohol. Dr. Atkins was strict with induction and for it to work, you have to sacrifice some things while doing induction. Diet Soda will not do anything.
As for the vegtables, try to stick to dark green vegtables, a half a cup with your meals. You can have salad too (half a cup) instead of regular veggies and watch out for carbs in the dressings.

That is good though. 14 pounds in a little over 5 weeks is excellent. Over
my 45 years of dieting at one time or another, I have found that the pounds
that go quickly are regained just as quickly. For the people who go to extremes
consuming only a few carbs every day and drinking 2 or 3 gallons of water
every day, that is good but you are like the pace car at the Indy 500. It goes
hard and fast and then leaves the track for those with the endurance and intent
to win the race. Also, a big part of success is in the re-affirmations that
you receive from other people. Don’t tell everyone that you are on a strict
diet. Wait for them to notice. That is such a thrill! Later, you will have
more and more people noticing and complimenting you. At first, they can’t
figure it out. New hairdo? new sweater? Then it dawns on them “No. Less of
Janie!” So when it is done at a slower and steadier pace, you will constantly
get
the compliments. AS you go down and have to add to your wardrobe, the
compliments continue. It is actually hard, once you have reached your goal as
the
compliments wane. Pretty soon, you don’t get many as some people assume you’ve
always been the person with the svelt body who can wear that pencil skirt or
those tight Levi’s. But then it is up to you to find something else to occupy
your time that the diet consumed. Maybe evening classes and studying? A
quilting project? or writing your memoirs. But wee can’t depend on those
outside of
ourr family to make the success continue. We must constantly maintain a
vigil of watching what happens with our bodies to make it work for life.
