New list member..

Hello group,
While I am a newbie to the list, I have just completed my 3rd week
of the induction diet - checking my ketone level this morning shows
I’m in heavy ketosis.. Yeah, I know, generally you stay on it for a
couple of weeks, but I have enjoyed it so much, it has been easy to
stay on it.. Well that is except for no bread.. Being I never really
had that much of a sweet tooth, I don’t miss the sweets, but the
bread had been a tough give up.. Living near a German Bakery, one at
which we used to eat, and very often bought bread from, does not make
life any easier..
It’s really ironic given when my buddy who first described the
diet to me, told me of his brothers success with the diet, but would
occasionally go off of the diet and consume a whole loaf of bread..
The ironic part is I remember at the time, thinking how compulsive
that was, and who could eat a whole loaf of bread.. Well I now know I
could murder a loaf myself..
But I’ve made it three weeks without any bread, so I guess I will
not die.. Yeah, I know there is low carb bread, in fact my wife even
picked me up a loaf this weekend, but then forgot it and left it at
her parents house.. Is that low carb bread any good anyway??
I have a propensity for diabetes (both my father, grand father had
it) so this was my main reason for going on Atkins, and have no plans
to ever go back to a higher card diet.. Sure the weight loss is nice,
and I am happy for every pound I shed (so far it’s been around 15
lbs), but that is just the butter on the bread so to speak - I gotta
stop thinking about bread..
Anyway, I go in on Friday for my anual blood work up, and hope the
results doesn’t give my doctor any causes for concern.. Wish me luck..
flk k
