all in one

Hi Shara. You mentioned the drink that you found, no carbs no sugar. Even
though it has no carbs or sugar, would you still have to count at least one
carb due to the sweetener (whether its splenda or whatever0?
Also, where did you find this particular drink?
Thank you

I just began the induction part yesterday and I’m experiencing terrible,
terrible heartburn! I am already on Nexium (for heartburn) and it always worked
well for me but now that I’m following the induction to a T, I’m feeling alot of
heartburn and nausea too. Has anyone else experienced this? Also, feel tired
and headachey. ??????? Thank you for your help!!!

Is there one particular multi that anyone has found that meet all the requirements and work well with Atkins. I was reading the label on our normal brand and it doesn’t seem to be adequate.

thanks,

Karyn

Shara - Low carb ketchup

Tuesday, March 25th, 2003

Hi Shara et al.,

This is my first post. There are several brands of low carb “ketchup” on the market. One under the Atkins brand and another made by Westbrae called “Unsweetened Un-Ketchup.” It has 1 carb to one tablespoon and no sugar. I purchased it but haven’t tried it yet. Good luck to everyone on this list!

Coke &s Caffeine addiction

Monday, March 24th, 2003

I understand Diet Rite doesn’t use aspartame and neither does
Waist Watcher. If there are other’s, I don’t know what they are.
For those interested in Crystal Lite, they have now come out with
a caffeine free tea. They still use aspartame, but at least it doesn’t
include the double whammy of caffeine AND aspartame.

all in one

Monday, March 24th, 2003

Since there is some concern about the number of posts — I’ll try to post all my responses in one message.

I did a lot better last night. Full night of sleep and went full steam all day long. Got in my exercise.

I did a major stock up on food supplies. I was surprised at how easy it was to find things to eat on induction if I was just willing to follow the rules. I found a new drink (new for me anyway :-)) fruit 2 o. No calories, no carbs.

My splurge for this week is smoked pork chops. 2 gms of carbs a piece. I’ll serve them with asparagus topped with cheese.

Has anyone found a meatloaf recipe that works for them? This is what I have been brainstorming on…..ground beef, 1 egg, green onion, and bell pepper. I can’t find any low carb ketchup, so I am looking for a substitute. Do you suppose that mustard would taste good?

Way to go on avoiding the chocolate cake! I have such a hard time with my extended family and sweets. It is no wonder diabetes runs rampant in my family. I’ve had gestational myself. The doctor told me that the only thing I could do to possibly prevent “full time” diabetes was to lose weight. Of course, I’ve never been able to do it. I followed a low fat vegetarian diet for a long time and managed to gain. So I am really excited about this lifestyle change.

I hope everyone had a great day,

Shara

Atkins online gathering at ht…

Sunday, March 23rd, 2003

For some strange reason I am unable to access the chat room. I’m registered and it keeps making me register and then it tells me someone else already has that username and it’s me.
I’ve tried several times to get in but have been unable to.

My last diet!!!

Sunday, March 23rd, 2003

I’m not sure where to begin? Approximately three years ago I went on
a Ketogenic Diet and to make a long story short lost 40lbs before I
knew it. However, like the millions of people who “successfully” diet
only to put it back on shortly after going off of their respective
programs,I too found myself nearly back up to 240lbs. It’s been three
years now and I finally understand why I wasn’t able to keep the
weight off despite the many other legitimate attempts to control my
weight. After having read Dr.Atkins “New Diet Revolution” I’ve come
to the conclusion that I have an intolerance to Carbohydrates
(specifically, sugar). Although I haven’t been able to pinpoint the
specific foods yet, I’m confident that through this process with my
new found enlightenment, I should have no difficulties identifying
them and severly restricting if not completely omitting then from
diet. I’m also much more focused on making this a life-long
commitment as just recently my father had his third heart attack. I’m
only in my early 30’s, and given a very suspect family history of
heart disease, need every advantage I can get. Did I mention I’ve got
three children and a wife of nearly fourteen years- I’d be willing to
bet that there are a lot of you out there how have this and much more
to live for. Take this diet very seriously, gather all the
information thats out there, and make a life-long commitment not only
to yourself, but also to all those who love you dearly!!!
