Of tic - tacs that is.. 1 g of sugar no carbs.. and that is helping
me with the overwhelming cravings (3 days in) but I can honestly say
the world has not made it easy for me… lets see yesterday the boss
feeling really loving brouhgt in 2 dozen fresh doughnuts… and then
today because the “BIG Boss” was here they had a luncheon with
everything including chocolate chip cookies the size of small
plates. As I filled my mouht with green salad.. passed on the
catered lunch and sucked on the tic tacs I wondered does the craving
for the bad stuff ever end???

Im so sorry you got sick. We are supposed to eat meat but its best to mainly eat lean meats but of course you will eat marbled meat too. Your eating very greasy foods it seems. When I make bacon, I use Turkey bacon, less fat and grease and I let it drain on paper towels before serving it. Try and get rid of all that yucky grease.
As for caffine, what it does is make your blood sugar rise. It makes your body think it has sugar in it and by doing that your insulin goes up. Yes it does sabotage the diet. Try your best to stay away from it.

Dear Erin,
Don’t give up. One question?? Have you been following the exact 2-week induction menu? and have you read the book (Wal-Mart @ 6 bucks). Those help so much! DRINK lots and lots and lots of water and try to excersize!! If you do these things there is no reason why you arn’t losing weight. Get back to me..

My experience with Splenda is that it makes me crave sweet stuff even more. I
use Stevia to sweeten. Even my family does not know the difference and they
are quite particular.

Hello everyone
I joined this group a couple of days ago but sort of lurked to get a feeling for the group. Also, I feel that all of you are much further ahead on this diet than I am. I just ordered the book last week and I’ve been reading about the Atkins diet on the Internet. I guess that puts me on the “thinking about it” phase.

I suppose that I want to be sure about this before I start - mainly because I want to be sure I can keep up with the dietary requirements in order to succeed. I work full-time and have two small kids at home - not to mention that my daily hours are eaten into by a 4 hour round trip commute to work and back!

Another reason I’m a bit hesitant is the fact that this diet seems to be geared mainly to the US. It has existed for nearly 30 years, yet I cannot find anything about it here in Belgium. If I want to order stuff, it is only online and from the US. It’s not that I’m afraid of ordering online - far from it - but it would be more convenient to shop in person, I suppose.

Ok… I guess that by now I should actually introduce myself… LOL… My name is Jorge (I go by Jay in the groups), 35 yrs old, Portuguese by birth, partly raised and educated in the US, and now I live and work in Belgium with my husband of 10 yrs, Tom, and our two adopted boys - Jeroen, 3 yrs old, and Liam, 4 months old.

I am about 5′7″ and at the moment I weigh 251 lbs!!!!! I would like to drop the excess baggage and go back to weighing at around 165 lbs (so, about 86 lbs to shed!!). I know that my ideal weight would be around 147 lbs, but I would be happy if I could get down to about 165 or even just 170 lbs!

Anyway, this should give you an idea of where I’m coming from and why I’m interested in the Atkins Diet. I have tried many other diets along the years and it all seems to work for a while, but then it stalls and eventually all the weight comes back + some extra!!

If there is anything I have left out that you would like to know, just feel free to ask.

I have been doing this diet for 8 days. I thought the weight was
supposed to “fall off”. I read the book and I have lost a total of
NOTHING, NADA, ZILCH. THIS SUCKS!!! I want to quit. Why is this
not working??? I am following this diet to a T. I have not cheated
what is the deal???
