Debbie, Dieter’s family in germany lived in Aurich, Ostfr. His morht was from Hemer, and his father from Frankfurt. I lived there two years, and learned to speak German. I have a good ear for accents, and people would ask me what part of Germany I was from, instead of asking where I was from. My husband still has his accent, but his grammar is better than most Americans’. When people ask where he’s from, he says “Texas.”
Haha!! So true! They DO speak better english then we do. My husband sounds like he is from Cali. and here I am with my horrible Brooklyn accent. I have been married for ELEVEN years and as hard as I try I can’t learn German to save my life. I can’t even get past the Der De Das. What object is male or female. Oy! How did you do it? Im afraid to fly so I will never go there but it must be beautiful. The one thing my husband always notices here is that the sky is blue where Germany is usually overcast and people are friendlier (more easy going). He really likes it here thank goodness because im not getting in a plane and flying for 7-8 hours. Im such a weenie! Oh… this year my husband became a U.S. citizen!!! Actually he is a duel citizin now because he still needs to visit his parents once a year so he didnt want to totally give up his German passport and go through all that paper work each time he went there.
How is the diet going so far? Dieter likes to cook? My husbands name is Oliver and all he knows is how to make toast. I am not lieing and now he can’t even have that lol. Good thing he has me. He would starve to death on his own.
Ok, im sorry I went off topic.
Debbie
