to those of you ready to quit and feeling frustrated:

Tuesday, July 29th, 2003

dont give up yet. i
had trouble loosing weight at first also and it was very discouraging. i dont
know if you have tried this yet and i know you have heard it before, but
exercise (as much as we all hate it) really helps jump-start it. just a walk
around the block, 4 days a week can really help move the lbs. and it is hard to
get started with exercise but i found that once i started doing it, i feel more
energized and better about myself. I do taebo tapes, which were really
difficult when i started, but each day it gets easier and i actually look
forward to
exercising.
when i realized that this diet was not working for me and seemed to work for
everyone, i decided to also add vitanutrients to the diet. they are kinda p
ricey (especially the atkins brand) so i bought them slowly. i started with
CoQ10 which is supposed to help mobilize fat. and a generic daily vitamin like
centrum to ensure that i get the vitamins and nutriens that i no longer eat. i
just added L-carnitine (sp?), which also helps mobilize fat as well as curb
cravings. i am also taking psillium husk capsuls for fiber. this sounds like
a lot of pills, which i was sceptic about at first but they help a lot. And
if you are like me and have tried other diets, then you have probably taken
more pills than that in one day. I tried a lot of stupid chemical diet pills and
paid lots more for stuff that doesnt work. these are natural vitamins that
could be helpful. these are just the ones that i chose, and when i have the
money, i will probably also purchase the Atkins Basic #3. these are all in the
book along with many others, look thru and pick some that you think may help
you.
also, i am a firm believer that if you weigh yourself more than once a week,
then you are setting yourself up for dissappointment.. your weight fluctuates
within 2-3 lbs throughout each day. if i weigh in every day or every other
day it would be likely to show no progress or even gainage. I dont own a scale,
which makes it easier for me, so i weigh myself every wednesday morning
before i eat anything on a public scale. I have only lost about 3lbs per week
(with a couple of major slip-ups). If i weighed in daily i would hardly see the
scale move and probably would have quit my now. But if you think about it, at
3lbs a week, by october i will have lost 50lbs. which is way better than
giving up.
I hope someone gets something out of my rabbling. i have been reading the
digests for a while but rarely speak up but i hate to hear of anyone giving up.
I am fairly new to this also, so i am no expert, but i do know what it is like
to feel like the plan works for everyone but me. this group is very
supportive and i probably would have quit if it wasnt for y’all. dont give up
yet!
good luck to all

one week and NOTHING!

Tuesday, July 29th, 2003

ok guys i have to admit i almost ditched everything last night- it
was my first time to stwp ont he scale in a week and i made my
boyfriend go first because he is doing this with me and he had lost
5lbs this even after a great party on friday where he consumed way to
many carbs and then with hope because he had ewven said he could tell
a difference in my body i stepped on and there it was the same number
it had been the week before and i was even the good girl drinking
only water at the party- very upsetting- i even cried a little- i
have been running and doing yoga and some pilates moves. not sure
what the problem is but all i have had today is an atkins shake and
water just because i was in too much of a hurry to make eggs.. some
words of advice would be greatly appreiated! anyone i n the same boat?

im in ketosis!

Tuesday, July 29th, 2003

Bethany,
I am positive it is your vitamin pill. Do not take it in the morning,
take it when you are eating your dinner, or better yet, after dinner. I had
the very same reaction, and it ended as soon as I stopped taking my pills in
the morning.
Good luck to you, I have been on the diet for 3.5 weeks, and do not
cheat at all, but still only in ketosis at a trace, however I am slowly but
steadily losing weight - so far 6.5 pounds, as I say, slowly but steadily.
Good luck to everyone.

NEW & Struggling!!

Monday, July 28th, 2003

Hi everyone– I am a new member to the group ( about 2 wks ) and I have been
trying very hard to lose th extra baby weigh gained with my last 2 little
ones. I kinda strayed a bit from the low carbs. however I have still been
dieting… but now I’ve decided I MUST get VERY serious for this to work!!! So
I am
back to starting with the Induction and hope to get motivated.
I also have a hard time with the water—really have to force myself. I LOVE
frest fruit, so that is also very hard for me—???? can I eat Celery–& if
so would there be a limit??? I know no carrots, but I would like to have the
celery can I ???
ALso if there is anyone here who has done well losing the baby weight I would
love to hear from you—I have 5 little ones and I have about 35lbs to go to
get to before babies and I am really having a hard time losing this last
amount.
I have enjoyed reading the posts the past 2 wks and CONGRATS to all who have
done well!! Hope you have a wonderfu day!!

FIRST DAY

Monday, July 28th, 2003

Hello all…
My name is Susanne and this is my first day of induction. I have
about 50 pounds to lose but my immediate goal is 25 pounds.
My question is, how much to meds affect the diet? I take birth
control pills, Ortho-Tri-cyclen, and also a water pill (prescription)
every morning. Just had deviled eggs for breakfast and man they were
delicious.

water/lemon juice, and question

Monday, July 28th, 2003

There are 19.5 grams of carb in 1 cup of lemon juice, so be really
careful with how much you add. Could replace the lemon juice with
citric acid? If you add stevia it tastes like lemonade. Or, as I do,
with vitamin C powder and stevia.
I am used to dissolving my powdered vitamin C into a pitcher of water,
and adding stevia to sweeten, drinking through the day. Is this
acceptable? Will this vitamin C water count towards my total - I need
at lest 12 8 oz. glasses of it, and doing that on top of the vitamin C
water seems kind of over the top.

must remember to do spell check

Hi
My name is Maggs Gurney and I live in Water Orton, Warwickshire, UK.
I am married with one daughter aged 24, tried it once, didn’t like
it :O)
I’ve been on the Atkins Induction for 2 weeks, just starting my 3rd

at all and can’t wait until I get to my goal wait.
look forward to “talking” to you

This is hard!

Saturday, July 26th, 2003

I am only on day 2 of the induction phase and I have really had to control
myself from eating candy or fruit. I can’t wait until my carb cravings ease up.
About how long before I notice a difference as far as my hunger and carb craving
getting less?

getting back on track

Saturday, July 26th, 2003

hello. well i’m back and i’m serious again. well i got all my
cookouts/parties over with for awhile. phew! seems like i had either
a cookout or some type of a party every single weekend. then it was
like amusement parks. well i told my kids not going to an amusement
park til end of august! LOL! that way can get my diet back on track.
well i got on the scale, don’t ask! LOL!! well i didn’t gain it all
back, which is good. so i still lost 10 lbs which is good! but i
have my refridge stocked wtih protein, also have my water in hand.
which is good.
I also went out and purchased the atkins dietary supplements. but
later on this evening, i’m going to the gym to work out. ok, figure
i stop in and say hello!
