Hi Diane, I’m 65 and before I went on Atkins my cholesterol was 251, after
being on WOE for several weeks it’s now down to 212. Haven’t had it checked in
two months but I bet it’s even lower. I love this diet, even though I’m a
pasta lover. I don’t miss pasta at all, have spaghetti squash
whenever……….. Good luck to all of us, I know we can do it.

    Help!
    I’m on the verge of giving up - I expected to loose much more weight in the
    first 2 weeks - I’ve only lost about 3 pounds. Am I doing something wrong?
    Couldn’t give up the white wine - Could that be the problem?

    Eve,
    Consuming white wine will never let your body go into ketosis - it
    has sugar in it. In other words, you are constantly supplying your
    body with carbs and you aren’t using fat for fuel!
    I don’t know what else you are doing, there may be other things too.
    Maybe list what you consumed and we can help you? But I would
    definately STOP the wine - because until you do, you aren’t doing
    Atkins! It will take 2 days for your body to work through the stored
    energy (created fromt he carbs in the wine), so don’t expect any big
    changes until AFTER that point.

    Hey Valerie!
    Nuts are NOT allowed in the Induction Phase of Atkins - it is
    something you can add in once you are in the second phase. It’s a
    real bummer too - because I love nuts! There ARE carbs associated
    with them, but they are a great source of protein/’good’ fat once we
    are allowed to add in more carbs to our diet. I love love love to
    stick sunflower seeds in my salads - I really miss them!

    It’s a vegetable! After cleaning out the seeds, I pop it in the
    microwave and cook it for about 10 min. the “spaghetti” just falls out. Tastes
    really good with just butter and cheese. I do put sauce on it at times. ( My
    micro is very old so it might not take as long on the newer ones).
