brain fog/confusion
Am I the only one that gets the foggy brain and confused feeling on
no/low carb??? I’ve tried induction several times but because of the
HORRIBLE confusion can’t make it past about the 6th day.. I have
given it time and not just quit- but the symptoms don’t ease up AT
ALL, If anything they get worse as time goes on with no/low carbs..
Now take into account that i’m a 911 dispatcher for a very busy city-
seconds can mean lives in my job- I can’t be ‘foggy’ when i’m trying
to serve the public and out police and firefighters (one of which is
my boyfriend-lol) because like i said, seconds really count.
ANYONE at all have these symptoms? And what in the world causes it?
Can i just NOT do atkins? Something in my body chemistry?????
oh btw, i do take vitamin pills to keep my levels up so it’s not
that…
Thanks!!!
Frustrated but still trying- Dawna

Sorry.. I’m doing low carb- Trying to keep it under that 20 a day
figure- It just gets so bad that say for example at work.. an officer
will call out with a traffic stop and i just can’t understand what
he’s saying to me (the brain fog is that bad i mean) I have 40 lbs to
lose and the doc recommended trying atkins (migraines and high
cholesterol as well).
Thanks!!! Good luck everyone

Dawna,
Sometimes it helps to space your carbs out across the day..like say 4 carb
mini meals 5 times a day… or maybe a lot of carbs at one time middday or when
you need to be more alert..I had to experiment to see what worked best for
me..For me it’s good to have a lot of carbs at lunch time to keep me going thru
the day.. :))
good luck on the diet!

It could just be that you were eating a very high carb diet
previously maybe?
Or certainly the withdrawal from caffeine.
Have you thought about that Dawna?
Hope this helps

Thank you all IMMENSELY for your advice and words of encouragement..
To most of your questions.. yes, i am VERY carb addicted.. I took in
a HUGE number of carbs a day (typically a giant size box of froot
loops each day- let alone the chocolate and sweet tarts!!!)So, yes,
i am probably going through WICKED withdrawls.. But it’s SO hard to
stay with something that makes you feel so darn bad!!!
But thanks again for the words of encouragement!!
Love to you all and happy dieting…

no/low carb???
Hi Dawna,
I got those same symptoms big-time on low carb. Turned out I had a
yeast overgrowth that I didn’t know about. Yeast give off toxins that can
cause these symptom (and often others as well.) Now I had been having some
confusion and exhaustion anyway but didn’t know what it was from. When I
did low carb I was essentially starving the yeast that live on carbs and
when they started dying they released many more toxins than before. So the
symptoms got really bad. You might check into this. Do a search for “yeast
symptoms” or “candida symptoms” and you’ll find all sorts of information.

Thank you all so much for your thoughts!!
Yes, I was eating LOTS of carbs prior to this. I rarely eat fat (so i
Thanks again for all your help guys !

was thinking where the heck did these 40 lbs come from!! surely not
the whole box of froot loops i eat each day-LOL)
The yeast overgrowth also sounds like a possibility- But how do I get
rid of it and solve the problem??? Also, another problem is that I
just can’t get through this first 2 weeks- the side effects are just
too terrible- i can’t think AT ALL and in my job i just can’t be like
that.
