The Russel Stovers Rip-Off!
I dont know if any of you have tried these but they are
very good. However I am posting to let everyone know
that we are kind of being hosed if you are buying thier
low carb product. For each low carb candy they have, you
can also find it as their sugar free product. But they
are charging more for the low carb product. Example:
I can find the low carb mint pattie 2 count for as low
as $0.99 up to $1.39. I found the sugar free mint pattie,
I think it was a bag of six (at least, maybe more) for
$1.89! I compared packages and everything appeared to be
identical. So I called Russel Stovers and asked why?
The reason is there is a slight difference between the 2,
the low carb products use malitol exclusively while the
sugar free products use a blend of sugar alcohols. Not
much of a difference! The customer service person said
that malitol is more expensive and that the low carb was
being specifically marketed and that is why it was more
expensive. As everyones milage varies, if the sugar alcohol
blend doesnt affect you then purchase the them instead.
I did a taste comparison and they are identical!
