Question about candy bar cars
I bought some Ross Chocolate chocolate bars which were advertised
with 1 gram of carbs per bar. When I got the bars it says 15.8
grams of carbs, but that the “net impactible carbs” are 1.0 grams.
So how do I count this as far as grams go. I checked the Atkins
site and it says that you can eat these types of foods based on the
net carbs, but I was a little unclear on it. Can someone please
help me on this. Thanks.

Hi, I’m from Kamloops, BC and have been using Ross chocolates as they
are made just 1/2 hour from here. I phoned them and had a chat.
As in all things made with sugar alcohols, you take the total carbs
subtract the fiber and then you subtract the sugar alcohol (in this case
the maltitol) that gives you the total net impact carbs.
Hope this helps.

Unfortunately, my diabetes hasn’t read the book and doesn’t know the part
_Dulcinea: or Wizardry A-Flute_ (e-mail me 4 excerpt) ISBN 0-7388-5388-7
about ignoring the sugar alcohols. So if you do have diabetes type I or
II, you can’t ignore any part of the carbohydrate count as far as your
allowed carbs for the meal (or you’ll get blurry vision and the other
symptoms of high blood sugar.) A word to the wise.
