you can have the atkins advantage bars, the breakfast start bars and the
atkins shakes, but that’s all for induction.

First let me say that those Delite chocolate bars are heaven for low carb
chocoholics!
If you are going by the book, no they are not allowed. However, the great
thing about Atkin’s is they way you can make it work for you and your needs.
For me, I get unbelievable chocolate cravings, particularly at certain times
of the month. I have some by the book things that I try when I’m craving
but there are times where I just need pure chocolate. So I have the Delite
bars. As I see it, better to have that than to chuck the whole ‘diet’.
And the dark chocolate Delites are ZERO net carbs and so rich that I am
usually fine with taking a single bite at a time. This makes one bar last
several days…. so in the end, I think the possible harm is quite low.
However, you do have to consider whether having these kinds of things will
just trigger more cravings for you. It’s probably best to use these crutch
foods as a very last resort, if at all.
Chewing gum: There are plenty of sugar-free gums, it’s finding one without
aspartame that is the difficulty. I believe Dentyne gums don’t have
aspartame. But I’m not much of a gum chewer so check the label.
