I have a pork rind stuffing that you might enjoy. 1 small onion,
chopped, 1-8oz. can mushrooms or chopped fresh mushrooms, 1/2 sick of
butter, 1 bag of pork rinds, crushed but not to a powder, herbs of
choice (sage, thyme, celery salt, chervill, rosemary, salt, pepper
etc….) 1 egg and 1/2 chicken broth. Saute onion and celery in
butter until soft, add mushrooms to coat with butter. Put crushed
pork rinds in bowl mix in herbs and pour egg over and mix. Pour
chicken broth over that and mix, pour sauteed vegies over that and
mix. I did not stuff the turkey with this but baked it in a flat pan
at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes. its very good and I don’t even
like pork rinds at all. Enjoy!!!!!!!!

From: Robin Weber All I did was do a bunch of research to learn that cortisol was a
significant problem for me. Instead of ordering a formulation with several
cortisol lowering properties I went to my favorite local health food store
and had a conversation with the manager, who has been very helpful in the
past. He recommended I try this particular supplement. I am fairly
resistant to weight loss and therefore I had stalled for a few days. In the
first three days of taking it I lost 2 more pounds. Personally I’m not
concerned about mad cow disease with this supplement any more than I am when
I eat a hamburger - but that’s just me. A side note; my cognitive function
has improved so much since begininning this I’ve been able to stop taking
stimulants for ADD.
Here’s a link with a good deal of info and research on this particular
supplement.

Hi Robin,
Thanks a bunch for the informative site! I’ve bookmarked it for future
reference too. I’ll check into getting Phosphatidylserine locally. I’ve
also just started taking fish oil in fairly large doses and this is supposed
to help so I’ll see how that goes.
Again thanks.

Hello Mary,
I have just completed my first week on Atkins and have lost 10cm (3in) and
1.8kg 3.96pds.. After the 2nd day I did not look twice at either bread (of
which I devoured about 6 slices per day!) and sweets. I had no cravings and
still do not have any desire for any “cheat” goodies.
Trust me and everyone else on this list. See how much better it goes on day
4. Hold fast. We are going to help each other through this!

New also

I am new also and started up today! I didn’t do too bad - however it is very
hard with all the breads and goodies in the house with the kids.
I am finding I am dying for something sweet - anyone with any quick and easy
tips for a sweet snack?
Another question: Do you all do the Atkins shakes in the induction phase?
Or should I hold off on those until after the first 2 weeks?
Is deli meat okay to eat for lunch or to cut it up and put on salads?
I am really anxious to see how much I lose - I am trying so hard.
Would love some help to get started. Any suggestions are welcomed!
Mary

There are many supplements out there made to lower your cortisol levels and
may help get rid of some of that stubborn fat around the middle, which has more
cortisol recepters.
Could you tell us a few names of these drugs available?

How clever! Thank you so much! I have about 4 people not on email and I am
going to print this out for them.
Is this all for Induction?

I have a neighbor who doesn’t have email, so I’ve combined some of my
favorites into one to print out for her. It starts out with an article
followed by some recipes and meal ideas. Thanks to all these authors.

In Response to Leslie and GERD

Saturday, July 24th, 2004

Hi Leslie… welcome.
I have only been on Atkins for 3 weeks now and I’ll share my story. I had
that Acid Reflux problem for about 4 months. I had probably had it off and
on all my life but I didn’t know it. In August it got really bad with
choking and vomiting at night and then progressed to the daytime when I went
to the doctor and was diagnosed. I was on medication for 6 weeks but it
didn’t help. I then studied up on the internet information about what to
eat and got a bit better. I started a new medication and for two weeks I
did well with it almost gone.
Then… I started Atkins and you can imagine how upset I was when it came
back with a vengence. After having had hardly any symptoms for about two
weeks this was quite devastating. Another list I am on had people that said
to hang in there because it would get better. Hard to believe since I was
now eating the same foods that I had eliminated to make it better in the
first place.
Well.. to come to the point here… Its been three weeks and I can say for
the first time yesterday I did not have a coughing, choking attack at work
and the last few nights have been really good. I survived these last few
weeks, continuing on my medication but chewing Alpine gum, dentyne gum and
sucking on fisherman’s friends drops through the day and night. So..
My point is.. I think they were right and by hanging in there I have lost 10
pounds.. which I did in the first 2 weeks and am slowly dropping inches but
not so much more weight.. I do have medications that I take and they could
be the cause but the weight is coming off in places that are not measurable.
So… good luck.
Subject: I’m New
Hi, Everyone! I’m new to this group and wanted to take a minute to say hi.
I’m starting the induction tomorrow (need to make a grocery run!). I had
started the diet several years ago and ended up sick a lot - I didn’t know
at the time that I had GERD and I was eating too much “fried in butter”
foods. I can have them in moderation, but not every morning. I’m excited
to get started.
I have one quick question. I re-read the induction and didn’t see anything
about mayo. I thought it was allowed, but I thought I better check.
Thanks.
Leslie
