Hi everyone

it has been a long time since I have posted…am still doing Atkins
but went into a real bad depression..am doing better now…thank
god..and I didn’t eat over it…Thanksgiving was great…went to my
sons house(he does all the cooking)he fried the turkey(I do not like
turkey)so ate one piece of baked ham…some vegetables…no potatoes
and no bread…I made cranberries with oranges..grinded up and added
splendar…I am down to 175…I was in a tremendous amount of pain
from a Tarlov cyst in my sacrum(lower back)it seems since I have
lost weight the pain is subsiding…haven’t used a can for couple of
weeks…only problem now is I was on pain meds and because I am a
recovering Alcoholic as some of you know(If you remember me)I may
have to go into a treament facility to detox from them…I went to
my meeting this morning and talked about it…my daughter was
chairing the meeting (20yrs sober)and already knew what I was going
through…still have some pills left(my roommate holds them)enough
to get me thru the holidays….although of course I should go now
but I am going to wait..at least I took the first step and let
others know where I am at…
I have been taking in more carbs…stayed on 20 since when I
started July 8th..bought some of the Atkins bread and ocassionally
have a sandwich…today I only ate the meat plain..and tonight I
will have eggs bacon and maaaaaaybe toast….probably still between
20 and 30…its a great way of life for all the new comers…and
Judy I really enjoy your recipe’s…although I tend to be on the
lazy side and don’t really cook to much…
well before this turns into a novel just wanted to say
hello and wish everyone a Carb free Christmas….220/175/150

Hi my name is Shannon. I am 4′ 11″ and weigh somewhere between 350
and 400 lbs. Last time I checked it was 354 but I think I have
gained back the 35 lbs I lost the last time i was on the atkins. I
was raised eating weird things like bamboo shoots and lots of
veggies so when I got married i went crazy eating at macdonalds,
eating fried foods, macdonalds, sugary stuff and macdonalds. All the
things I was never allowed to eat growing up. It didn’t help
marrying a southern redneck that wants EVERYTHING fried with a TON
of flour on it with FRIED frenchfries. YUK!! Now he’s a penticostal
preacher that wants fried chicken and banana pudding.I have been
married for ten years and have not been able to have children so I
think my weight might have a factor in that. My hubby and I both
were on atkins about 6 months or so ago and lost but we bought a
house and got real busy and well no excuse…we quit!!!. But we are
both going back on it right after Christmas. We absolutly loved it
when we were on it so it makes it easier to go back. I thought I
would get involved with this group for some support and recipes. We
all need support. It gets frustrating sometimes. I was doing this
diet with a friend but it gets a little aggrivating doing this with
someone “That just has to lose that last ten pounds” and only had 15
to lose in the first place. (sorry if there are any of you out
there). Well I hope we all can be friends and be able to help
    eachother. Thanyou and God bless.

I am coming out of “lurkdom” to introduce myself and more so to make
this my official Day 1 on Atkins. My name is Debra and I would like
to lose about 30 - 40 pounds. In the past few weeks I have gotten my
excercise program back on track and have been faithfully doing about
45 minutes per day on my eliptical trainer.
I have been trying to decide between Atkins and The South Beach Diet
and have come to the conclusion (from reading posts from each group)
that if you want results, it is Atkins that works.
I did have my morning coffee (I still need that boost to excercise)
and am cooking my breakfast of bacon and eggs right now. I have no
idea what I will have for lunch, but have decided upon salmon and
salad for dinner. Oh yes, I have already had 3 glasses of water and I
don’t think I will have a problem getting all of my water in every
day. I was already a pretty good water drinker.
I look froward to getting to know all of you and hopefully keep
    active on the list.
    Debra

    Hi Everybody,
I’m new to the group, but, not new to Atkins. I’ve been on and off
for about 3 years now. I’ve lost over 100 pounds and gained about 20
of that back. I still have an additional 100 to lose. I can’t seem
to stay on track for over 3 months now, I go off and on. I think alot
of the issue has to do with Perimenopausal things. Seems to cause
awful carb cravings (sorry to the guys for mentioning this), I just
really need help and support and if any ladies out there know what I’m
talking about please, tell me, tell me if you’ve found any way to deal
with it. I’m desperate to lose the rest of my weight. With this
    constant on/off, I know I never will.
    ANY suggestions are welcome.
    Thanks,
    Cyndi

    Hi Guys,
It’s me, just plugging along, but, not very well, so, thought I’d post
again and try to gather some strength from all of you. I’ve lost so
much weight on Atkins and the other day I was thinking God only 100
more pounds to go lol only 100, but, it used to be almost twice that,
so it is only 100, I’m half way there, but, I can’t seem to stay on
track. I’ve moved recently and been sick with this awful chest cold
thing that seems to be going around here in Michigan anyway, so my
exercise has been a bit limited, but, been getting into the sugar and
other carbs here and there with the “oh, I’ll get back on track
tomorrow” thing. Well tomorrow is here, I’m sick of this weight and I
    want it gone.
What do those of you that are really successful do to stay on track?
For over a year I went without cheating one tiny bit, but, I can’t seem
to remember how I did that, so help me out here.
    Thanks for all your support,
    Cyndi
