hi sheryl!
welcome, and good luck with your losses!!
i’ve been on induction for 4 weeks and have lost 21lbs and 17″ so far!
i never thought i’d ever try atkins, but it has been easy for me to change to
(i have been lo-carbing on and off for 4 yrs) this way of eating and i don’t
see it being a problem staying with this woe for life!

Menu

Friday, August 13th, 2004

These are some of the meals that I have had now and in the past. I have been
on atkins since August 18.
Breakfast: I usually eat a couple of fried eggs in butter or couple of
boiled eggs or a piece of meat leftover from the nite before ( chicken, steak or
porkchops )
I usually have a snack around 10:00: Sugar free jello, boiled egg(
especially if I ate meat for breakfast), Piece of cheese , celery stick anything
that
you would want that is on your allowed .
Lunch:I eat about 11:30. I have a chef salad ( lettuce, eggs, cheese, ham,
bacon, grilled chicken topped with ranch dressing ).
Snack again about 2:00: Same as above on snacks
Supper: I usually don’t get home from work til about 7:00: I eat meat &
cheese, sometimes deviled eggs…..usually don’t have salad at nite because I am
starving and want somethign quick.
Snack about 9:00: I usually eat pecans and an atkins bar. ( not suppose to
have these on induction )
Lots of water all through out the day! I dont drink anythign but water.
Hope this helps someone. Sharon

John,
I saw your post in reply to “Drinks”.
I’ve had a terrible time. My husband and I just had a few words
about my feelings of giving up. I read where everyone is doing so
well and I’m not losing weight (but do feel better) but I haven’t cut
out diet sodas. I guess they are the next thing to go away.
Eventually I’ll get things worked out to where I lose. I do feel
better, I do feel better, I do feel better so even if I never lose
why would I want to go back to feeling awful?
How much weight have you lost and how long has it taken?

Much less expensive than buying the real thing.
I haven’t tried it but those who have say it is as good if not better.
Faux Atkins Bake Mix
1 cup soy flour
2 cups soy protein isolate
2 tablespoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons Splenda
Sift together then store and use as you would Dr. A’s. It’s much cheaper
and things come out about the same.
**You could try substituting soya powder (milder taste) for the soy flour
and substituting egg protein for soy.

Round Two

Monday, August 9th, 2004

Hi, New to the group and today is DAY 1 of induction AGAIN. Very
glad to find this group as I DEFINITELY need support. I had a very
successful Atkins program going and then got WAY OFF track. Started
June 6th at 211 and by early Oct was down to 177, 34 lbs total. Have
had several false starts on getting back on induction, lasting from
less than 1 day to 3 days. Then bingeing on carbs. Not sure why I
am having such a hard time getting started because I didn’t cheat
ONCE in 13 weeks, when I started in June. Anyway . . . . . this
morning I am 198, disgusted with how much progress I have undone BUT
also trying to focus on the positive that I am 13 lbs lower for THIS
Day 1, than I was in June. BUT, it is what it is . . . so onward and
upward.
The other thing I will share is that I am a breast cancer patient.
Diagnosed 10/02, had two surgeries 11/02, chemo 1/03- 3/03, radiation
4/03-5/03, then started Tamoxifen, an oral med, 7/1/03. Tamoxifen is
associated with “significant” wt. gain in about 70% of patients,
according to my oncologist. Had a scare about a recurrence in July
and went through MANY more tests, late July and first 3 wks of August
before I was given the “all clear” Was able to switch to an
alternative, Arimidex, 3 weeks ago, now that I am
officially “menopausal”.
