What makes foods lo-carb?
When buying products that say they are lo-carb or no-carb, what
exactly makes them this? Is it the absence of sugar alone? That is
the only real difference I see (like in catsup).
I also bought lo-carb pasta and crackers for later on in Atkins, what
is making them lo-carb? I don’t have any other the regular type in
the house to compare the ingredients.

I plan on sticking to the induction to a T the first 2 weeks and then
occasionally add a lo-carb product here and there.
John, how long have you been on Atkins, and how much have you lost?

John,
I wish I only had what you have to lose. Ultimately I need to lose
120, that is my long long long time goal. Right now I’m working to
lose 45 which is the last low point I was at a few years ago.
Ugh, its a long hard road ahead of me, but I’m starting it tomorrow,
wish me luck!

John~ You are doing great!! Just think how much weight we would have gained
thru Christmas if we hadn’t of been thinking low carb! I did eat whatever I
wanted Christmas Eve and Christmas day!! I gained a few pounds but have
already lost it back off and a couple of pounds with it!! I am just so excited
that
I am under 150 now!! Last year at this time I was probably near 185 after
holidays!! You always gain about 5 lbs thru the holidays. Keep up the good
work!! Sharon

John~ I agree with you totally!! This is a change in our life and eating!
If we don’t make the change then the weight will come back on!! That is why I
am in no hurry to lose the weight!! I know it will come off!! I figured the
2 days at Christmas were just a treat and 2 days out of 365 days is not bad
to fudge on!!! I did eat fudge!!! LOL !~!~! Anyway, I plan to eat like this
forever with an occasional treat here and there but not often!! Maybe 1 a
month or so!! If we are going to eat like this forever there are going to be
times that we eat something not low in carbs!! Just remember not to mess up the
whole day just because you messed up on one high carb item!! Occasionally I
mess up but not for the whole day!! Just one thing that I shouldn’t eat!! Then
right back to it!! This has worked for me!! I know that some can not do
this!! We all have to do what works for us!! Sharon

lose the weight the next major addiction (and hardest) to break will
be smoking.<<<
John after 18 years of smoking I quit (on the 3rd try) it’s now been
4 years smoke free. First it was the gum, then the patch, then
finally Zyban and I quit. The patched worked for me while I was on
the patch only. If that is the hardest addiction, then caffeine and
this new way of living will be a real breeze for me, smoking was a
bitch to quit. I feel so much better since quitting, did after the
first month, you won’t believe how much more energy you’ll have after
a month not smoking. good luck to you when you do quit.

Hello Chris,
I have quit smoking a few times… the first time lasted for 9 months, then
I ended up going back, the next time for 6 months. The first time I went to
this like specialist in Boston that does some new-age-energy thing that I
didn’t quite understand but it worked really well. The second time I did it
for a week on the patch then cold turkey. This time I planned to try the
patch for the duration (as recommended) and see if I can stay away from cigs
totally.
Congrats to you on breaking your 18 year addiction to smoking.. and yes
smoking is WAY harder to quit than caffeine. Caffeine doesn’t give you 3
months of withdrawal symptoms, just a few days of migraines.

I was on 60 cigs per day when my son was injured. I stopped cold turkey
when they told me he would never come of the ventilator. Well, he did and
come 9 February, it will be 6 years smoke free for me. Stunning feeling!
Again, I did not allow myself options, for my son’s sake.

I got over it! :-)))))))
You can tooooooo! Hooting for you friend, go for gold! I did not give
myself any options and it was not as difficult as I thought it would be.
Treat it as the death of a pet. You cannot bring it back, so you have to
learn to live without it. Then get another pet, like chewing gum or
somethin!

that addiction. I guess after that, sticking on Atkins
