why no coffee???

Friday, November 26th, 2004

why is coffee not acceptable? Is this diet related or just Dr. Atkins
personal dislike of the
side effects that coffee has on your heart etc.??

make sure you are eating enough calories, only thing you really need to limit
intake on is the salad, no more then 3 cups per day while on induction!

induction acceptable foods

Thursday, November 25th, 2004

I just had a quick question. Is mayonnaise allowed during
induction? And if it is, are there any restrictions on the amount?
Thanks,
Sarah

Digest Number 515

My partner and I started induction 1/1/03. Went to wal-mart last night
and saw that they now sell all the atkin’s foods, mixes, etc. as well as
the “generic low carb” stuff that’s coming out. From everything I’m
reading about the induction, all that stuff is off limits. I’ve been on
atkin’s before (when there weren’t this many low carb products out, or
this readiliy available) and stayed on 20 carbs or less for the majority
of the time. When do folks think it’s safe to begin eating some of the
atkin’s/low carb products, and still be able to retain induction phase
weight loss? We were thinking in a couple of weeks it might be safe.
My partner Mark has 20-30 lbs to loose and I have 80 or so. Anyway,
thanks for the support and all the good info.

confused

Thursday, November 25th, 2004

Hello, I am wanting to start my diet the Atkins way, but I am
confused. I have medical problems such as a stent, stroke and high
blood pressure. My Dr. say’s I can try the Atkins diet but I was
wondering if any one out there has has the same medical problems I
have and if it is safe for me? I have alot of weight to loose and the
Atkins Plan sounds so good and real to me. Please help me out.

I’ve finally made up my mind to do this!!!

Wednesday, November 24th, 2004

My name is Francine and I have been thinking about doing the Atkins
diet. My sister is doing it and she has lost over 15 pounds in less
than 3 weeks. I have started the diet before, but I would stop it on
the same day!!!
Only today have I made up my mind to stick with it until I lose my
weight-30 pounds.
I just really need support from others who are doing the same thing
(my sister is not very supportive with me).
So it feels nice to have some people that I can talk to, who can
encourage me in this low carb diet.

Just wanted to say a quick hello! I am so glad I found an intro newsgroup. I
started my Atkins program today. I’m sure I’ll be asking for tips and help!

What makes foods lo-carb?

Monday, November 22nd, 2004

When buying products that say they are lo-carb or no-carb, what
exactly makes them this? Is it the absence of sugar alone? That is
the only real difference I see (like in catsup).
I also bought lo-carb pasta and crackers for later on in Atkins, what
is making them lo-carb? I don’t have any other the regular type in
the house to compare the ingredients.

Caffeine question

Monday, November 22nd, 2004

Why the necessity of stopping any caffeine intake?
I read on the Atkins site and it sounds like the primary reason for
no caffeine is because it makes you hungry, stimulates your
appetite.
Is it REALLY necessary to stop drinking black coffee or tea? This
will kill me at work.
