Vitamin supplement

Monday, January 31st, 2005

Can anyone recommend a good daily multi vitamin supplement? Are they all
basically the same, from Centrum to the generic store brands? Anything in
particular I should look for? Any other supplements I should be taking?
Thanks in
advance

Induction Day 4

Monday, January 31st, 2005

I am on day 4 and am really enjoying this diet now. I made a
chicken salad for lunch and am eating it on a bed of lettuce. I am
eating better than I did when I was eating high carbs all the time.
I even have more energy today and am sleeping better. The scale
says 5 pounds but I know weight will go up and down so am looking
more towards the weight at weeks end.

Terersa, Hi , I am on my first week, I gave up soda
which was hard but I want to lose the weight so bad.
What type of foods are you eating and how much?
Laura
Hey Laura. This Monday was the beginning of my 2nd week. The first couple
of days were pretty difficult. Headaches, yucky feeling, but, it improved and
now I feel great. No more cravings, I feel satisfied after eating just a
little bit.. Well, a little bit compared to what I used to eat.. lol. I
stayed
strictly on the do/don’t list of foods. I ate a lot of chicken, bacon, eggs,
cheese. I had salads with all the fixins, I made the faux french toast, it
was delicious. I had ground beef a couple of times. The only things that I
strayed on were 3 cups of coffee, and a couple of diet cokes. I have drank a
lot of water, but I do not think I have drank as much as I am supposed to. I
would guess 48-72 oz a day. I am trying to do better on the water. I am 5′3″
and I weighed 280#s when I started. I know that the more weight one needs
to lose, generally, the faster and more you lose to begin with. The only
complaint I have is the “trench mouth” like someone else mentioned. Orbit gum
has
helped some with that. My daughter and I are starting the Walk Aerobics
tapes from Leslie Sansone. GOOD LUCK.. Keep us posted on your progress.. it
will come, just stick with it.

What are you looking forward to?

Friday, January 28th, 2005

I was thinking last night about the little things i look forward to
seeing in the future….One thing i would like to see is my belly
ring..lol..funny i know but as i gained weight my ring pretty much
gets pushed back into my belly button..lol and when my waist was
smaller it was right where it should be!
So, what little things are you all looking forward to seeing?

greetings! newbie needs advice please

Thursday, January 27th, 2005

Good morning!
Just wanted to say hi and introduce myself.
I’m Janet age 43 married with 7 children ages 6-21.
I live in northwest Arkansas.
Ive tried every diet and never make it past a few days.
My husband has never been supportive but I am thrilled to say he plans
to do Atkins with me!!!!!!
He was never supportive but especially had nothing but critical comments about
Atkins.
I got the book last week and let him read it first.
The change in him has been astounding! He says Atkins makes perfect sense
and we may never have a Coke again!
The hard part now is realizing I can eat the Atkins way and lose weight.
I’m on Day # 1 Induction….
I would greatly appreciate any help and words of wisdom anyone can share with
me.
For breakfast I had
2 sausage patties
2 eggs cooked in butter
1 piece Atkins Bread toasted with butter
1 cup decaf coffee with 1 tsp whipping cream for creamer.
THIS CAN’T BE DIETING !
Should I try and take the excess fat off before I eat it?
Like use a napkin to absorb it ?
About exercise..it will be difficult because I have Multiple Sclerosis and am in
a wheelchair.
I was looking at the Atkins web site this morning and found a woman who also has
MS and she has lost so much weight and her energy level has gone way up.
( I’m sending a link to her story if anyone would care to see )

For me…….
any at all improvement in energy will be wonderful!
I’m excited about getting out of my size 22/24’s !!!!!!!!!!!
Wish me luck!
Thanks for listening to this desperate newbie

high fiber v low carb bread

Thursday, January 27th, 2005

What is the difference between high fiber bread and low carb bread.
I saw they both had the same carbs in them. Low carb was name brand
and ran for about $3 and the high fiber was store brand and ran about
$1 a loaf.
Does anyone know the difference and when can you start introducing
it. 2 weeks of induction will be up tomorrow. I am going to
continue on induction but my hubby is not and wants some bread. Will
this be ok for him to have in moderation. Maybe 1-2 a week? It was
6 grams for 1 slice.

recipe for gelatin without aspartame

Wednesday, January 26th, 2005

Hunts Snack Pack sugar free has Splenda instead of aspartame … also there
is the option of buying KNOX unflavored gelatin … adding Splenda and
unsweetened Kool-Aid … ( not sugar free Kool-Aid … but get the
unsweetened the one they tell you to add sugar to .)
