What are you looking forward to?
I was thinking last night about the little things i look forward to
seeing in the future….One thing i would like to see is my belly
ring..lol..funny i know but as i gained weight my ring pretty much
gets pushed back into my belly button..lol and when my waist was
smaller it was right where it should be!
So, what little things are you all looking forward to seeing?

What I’m looking forward to…
…waltzing into Victoria’s Secret and being able to wear it rather than
just dream about wearing it
…wearing a bikini at the pool
…being able to sit on hubby’s lap without breaking his legs
…fitting into the size 14 summer dress I bought last year, and then
having to take it in because it’s too big

Being able to buy clothes off the rack and not have to worry about if they have
a size big enough for me!

I actually dug out the book for ya :
* are you eating some protein every 5 hours or more often?
* any new meds ?
* yeast probs?
*thyroid probs?
*food sensitivities?
could it be that you have to stay at a very very low carb limit? I am on
maintenance and I have to stay between 30-40 carbs … pretty much forever
…
Louise — you just cant go !!! maybe you are allergic to one of your foods
that you eat often — even if its acceptable on induction it may cause YOU
problems ??? what is your favorite food ? the one you look forward to each
day? that may be a clue??

Dear Leslie,
Thank you for caring!
L: I have been on 20 carbs since 16 November. That’s why I thought I
would try and have actually started this morning, by going to 45g for the
rest of the month and see.
L: How would I even start to figure this out? Although I must say that I
did that with my sweetner, then the cream, etc. I actually eat all my foods
in equal quantities and can’t say that I favour one above another. Are you
suggesting that i cut out one food at a time and see? For how long do I cut
out that specific food before I try another?

My first one is about exercise. Is it an option and if so, are you doing
it? Just walking and moving is a good thing. The other question is
something I deal with..do you use salt? I like to use it, but also notice
that on the days that I do, water weight will stay on. When I cut it out of
my diet, the weight goes away..so I just use it sparingly now.
L: Yes Ed, I exercise a LOT. I do 10 min cycling, 10 min rowing, 10 min
treadmill, then I proceed to the pool for the Aquarobics for 45 min every
morn for 5 days of the week. I am not fond of adding salt to food, and
hardly every use salt, I just make do with what salt the food is cooked in.
L: I only drink water.
Or, prescription medications that may slow down loss..beta blockers,
diuretics, anti–depressants, hormone replacement drugs?
L: I have severe carpel tunnel syndrome and also from lifting my son (he
is 32 and quad from the neck down) so I take an anti-inflammatory, or I
can’t operate. I take HRT, as I get severe hot flashes
up…this can work!
L: Sjoeeee! I don’t WANT to give up. I actually am happy eating this
way, it’s just I want results.
Thanks for caring cyberfriend

Louise,
I would increase my protein. Your excersice plan is awesome girl! When I was
an amatuer body builder (yes, at one time I was in great shape)! My body
stalled, I was doing so much lifting and arobics, by body horded everything. You
may
even want to try an occasional low carb protein shake to break the platue.

Would you recommend I buy Protein Powder? I cannot get anywhere near the
Atkins protein shakes. I am in South Africa. We have a GNC here though and
they keep protein powders. What do I mix it with? Never had the stuff
before, but I do struggle to get enough protein.
Thanks for caring,

Louise,
Yes, You could use a gnc protein powder. Make sure it is low carb, no sugar.
Mix it with very cold water and an ice cube in a blender. I think I used
worldwide products. but any lo carb will do. I used to sprinkle the French
vanilla
on my eggs to! Made it taste like a dessert crepe.
Also, use your tape measure! Remember, you are burning calories, but building
muscle. muscle is dense and weighs more than fat.
I am off the next 2 days. I am going to go thru some of my nutrition books
and get some tips and recipes!

Terri,
Thank you so very much for your email! I appreciate it. I’ll tell you
why I think you have a good point here.
A friend of mine gave me the Lean for Life book to read. They count
carbs, but eat fat free foods. They allow fruit and bread. They
concentrate more on the high protein side, but do watch the carbs (50-100
per day) which they claim will keep you in ketosis. The diet also allows 3
snacks per day of a protein shake or protein bar.
I am still reading and am scanning in the book at the same time. The
whole program costs almost close to $200!!! So she was kind enough to lend
it to me. But yes, I think your experience is worth copying and see what
it does for me.
It is most interesting, this book, and if you like I can actually zip the
book and let you have a copy later if you like (by the beginning of next
week, say?)
Thank you so much for caring

Louise, who really really believes in the counting carbs concept, but not
necessarily the Atkins way of doing it :-))
recently, I didn’t lose anything weight on Atkins for 5 weeks after starting
the program. Then I noticed how the Fat Fast as well as the modified Fat
Fast are 1000 and 1,200 calorie restricted. Atkins states if the Fat Fast
works for you than any change in that direction, eg. decrease in calories or
increase in fat, will make a difference. Last week I averaged just over
1,000 calories a day and suddenly lost 2 lbs, and this week so far I have
lost 1 and half. Could the calories you consume a day be something to look
at? Like you, I was very attentive and strict about keeping my carbs to 20
a day, but to no avail. I also was in deep ketosis according to the keto
stix every single day and kept my percentage of fat at 65%, 30% protein and
5% carbs. I am 5′3″ also, plus I am 51 years old and I know it has become
even more difficult now than ever for me to lose weight. During those first
5 weeks, I walked o
loss. Another thing I changed is that I switched to weight lifting in order
to build my muscles so I can increase my metabolism. Not sure if that has
made a difference as well. I weigh 145 and I also noticed that you don’t
have a lot to lose compared to many others, so I figured that when so many
stall for months on this diet that they may not be decreasing their calorie
consumption. I also believe that the reason cream is somewhat restricted is
the calorie content. It is extremely high in calories compared to anything
else on this program. So, now I weigh and measure my foods so that I can
put an accurate reading in Fitday. com. I couldn’t help but think, what is
the point of burning off calories on the treadmill if I am putting so many
in my diet? Another thing I thought about was how so many body builders do
a ketogenic diet like this and then take a cheat day and load up on carbs on
the weekend a
weight. I tried this as well. I took one meal on Saturday and ate a tuna
sandwich, french fries and a chocolate Sunday and then immediately went back
to Atkins and still managed to lose 2 pounds last week. So, these are just
some things to think about or to try that have worked for me. I have not
responded to the group with this info as I am sure it would probably stir up
some controversy. I just hope that this is helpful to you in some way,
Louise. Also, would be interested in knowing for myself if calories are the
issue.
