Thursday, March 24th, 2005

I was wrongly informed about only being able to eat meat during
intro…………….I called my friend and had her look it up she
gave me a list of things that I can eat ………….but I really
love tuna so maybe I will just eat that for lunch with a cup of
salad……..
but she did say that I cant have no:
Fruits
Bread
Grains
or starchy Vegetables
or
Diary other than:
Cheese
Cream
Butter
and make sure there is no carbs
Is this right?

Great day

Wednesday, March 23rd, 2005

This is just my second day on Atkins diet. I feel good. I had three
eggs this morning and a slice of ham. Three quarts of water and two
cups of tea (hot). Had half a bag of cracklins. Tomorrow I am going
to make the recipe for Egg/Sausage/Muffins. I am going to sub
hamburger for sausage. Should be fine.
Some one asked the other day about how to curb the sweet cravings. I
found when I was on this before to eat either green olives, or dill
pickles. They seem to help and you don’t crave the sweets if you eat
the sour. Talk to you all later. Do enjoy the comments from everyone.

Cheating?

OK, lets say your on the second week and you cheat for one
day……reg food and beer. Do you have to start the two weeks all
over or just continue?

OMG! What have I just Done?

Tuesday, March 22nd, 2005

I came home today and was hungry for lunch — was in the mood for taco salad,
so pulled up the taco seasoning recipe someone posted the other day. As I
was frying my 1 1/2 lbs. of ground beef, I added all the ingredients ——–
when it was too late, I realized that you were supposed to mix all the dry
ingredients and then add only 1 T. to the meat!!!!!!!!!!!
DUH!
Today is the beginning of week two induction for me, so could somebody please
tell me how many carbs to count for this disaster lunch: I had about 3/4 lb.
ground beef, 1/2 batch of the seasoning mix, 2 c. lettuce, 1 oz. cheese, and
1 T. sour cream.
Then, another question - before this lunch I was at 5.2 carbs for the day - I
had 2 deviled eggs and the faux french toast (delicious, by the way). If this
mess I’m in is going to put me over 20 carbs, should I still have the rest of
my vegetables, or just go no carbs for the rest of the day?
Thanks!!

Hi Robley

Tuesday, March 22nd, 2005

Darn, I’m not on AOL…I have DSL. AOL is so expensive here, so I use the
free ISP and the DSL for sending. We used to have to pay per minute, so I
did not use computer much. I love this new technology….but I wish I could
be on your buddy list. (sad face).
Today, I had a busy, busy day(teaching cooking class, etc.) and was hungry,
so I drove to the market and got a package of sausage-type meats that are
sold here in Europe. They are so good, and carbo free. One more victory. I
like the good feeling that I have when I beat a temptation to fall backward
into a past behavior. I never smoked, I don’t drink, but I sure was/am a
food addict….carbohydrates were the addiction. How is everyone else
beating the compulsion to eat just one bite of something that is no good for
them? Stay healthy, Barbara in Holland

New to group and have questions!

Tuesday, March 22nd, 2005

Hi everyone! I’ve posted a time or two here but not enough for anyone
to recognize me. I have been on Atkins Induction for 3 full weeks and
I’m on day 3 of my fourth week. I’m keeping my carbs at 20 or less
according to fitday(I may go a bit over here or there but no more
than 25.) The first 10 days or so I dropped 8lbs like it was nothing
so of course I was thrilled. Then halfway through week 3 I gained
4lbs back. I attributed it to the Russel Stovers candies I found and
backed off of them(not that I was eating more than one a day anyway)
and the 4lbs came back off. Now I’m in week 4 and I’m still not
losing. In fact the scale was up again by 3 lbs. It’s the same
pattern as last week. I’m really watching my carbs and trying to cut
back every where possible (ie skipping my salad) I’m using the
Ketostix and they say I am definitely in Ketosis as they are
generally very purple. Is this normal? I’m starting to get
discouraged with no signs of weight loss. I know I’m not losing
inches either as I took measurements when I started and they haven’t
changed in the last 2 weeks. I’ve had different people say they had a
stall at week 3 but in week 4 the weight just started melting off.
Any ideas on what might be wrong. I mean I haven’t changed my diet
the entire time.
HELP before I give up!

Soda

Monday, March 21st, 2005

I read in here that Diet Rite was the only soda that we can have
during Induction. I live in Montana and I can’t seem to find Diet
Rite anywhere, so i went on a search for a different soda i could
drink. I went to a health food store and found Diet Hansen’s. It had
zero carbs, and is sweetened with Splenda. I just thought I’d share
that with every one in case other people are having a hard time
findin suitable soda to drink :)

Mel,
I I have the season recipe. DO you put the meat mixture over lettuce? This so
so good. WHat all do you put in yours?
