A few little tips… xp

Thursday, April 28th, 2005

I found these suggestions on a website today… substitute “lo-carb” where it
says “low calorie” and it works for us too. Some I already do, but, some were
ones I hadn’t thought about.
a.. Water, water, water, water. (Your skin will look great, too!)
a.. Order half portions at restaurants, or share a full portion with somebody.
Or ask for a “to-go” container when you order your food, and pack up half the
portion before you even start eating.
a.. Try at least one new food every week. If you’re bored with what you’re
eating, you’re more likely to give up.
a.. Measure your portions until you’re sure you know what a cup, a half-cup, and
a tablespoon look like. This will help you practice portion control, an
essential key to weight-loss success.
a.. Try not to drink high-calorie beverages.
a.. Dip your fork in a side of salad dressing before each bite, instead of
pouring it directly on your salad. You’ll find that you are satisfied with much
less than you usually put on.
a.. Find healthy alternatives to all your favorite foods.
a.. If you don’t really love it, don’t eat it.
a.. Never eat out of a bag or box. Take out a measured/counted quantity of food
and put it in a bowl. This way, you know exactly how much you’re having.
a.. Always eat something for breakfast.
a.. Read food labels. Check serving sizes.
a.. Add vegetables to everything.
a.. Plan meals in advance; use that information to make out a complete shopping
list.
a.. Give food to guests to take home.
a.. Write down everything you eat and drink, without fail.
a.. Plan ahead for special occasions by accounting for higher-calorie foods
before you eat them.

Atkins pancakes

Thursday, April 28th, 2005

I made the Atkins pancakes this morning according to the recipe on
the Bake Mix canister. It says 15 net carbs, but it doesn’t say per
serving, or the whole batch, or what. Does anyone know what one
serving of pancakes would be? I ate half the batch (2 lg. pancakes)
and I’m REALLY hoping that it would be 7.5 carbs.
P.S. Log Cabin now has locarb maple syrup. It’s been years since I
had the Atkins syrup, but I think I like it better than Atkins.
P.P.S. Why am I eating pancakes on Induction? Because I’m having a
hard time getting up to 20 carbs per day.

Help quick please

Thursday, April 28th, 2005

I need to make the locarb cheesecake today, but the recipe just says
1 box of Jello. Is it the little box or the big box? I bought 2
little boxes but don’t want to use both if it is too much.

Arrowroot?

Wednesday, April 27th, 2005

I’ve been using arrowroot as a thickener with great success. However, I
cannot find any references to it in the Atkins book as being an
“allowed” item. Opinions?

Finished second week

Monday, April 25th, 2005

Just thought I’d share my progress with everyone….today ended my second week
of induction and I have lost 13 pounds. I looked at the Atkins site and it says
that I have a low metabolic resistance so I hope I can continue to lose pretty
quick. I still have a long way to go so I am going to stay on Induction for a
few more months. Good luck to everyone and welcome to all the new members.
