Turnip Fries
I sliced up half a turnip last evening, placed the strips in a
ziplock bag with some salt, pepper, spices, and garlic powder and a
tablespoon of olive oil. Shook it up good, then fried them in a
skillet in some oil, like french fries. They were extremely
delicious…sort of a cross between french fries and fried
zucchini…with a sort of sweet flavor. It appears turnips have low
carbs (my estimate is 2 per half an apple-sized turnip) and good
nutrients…I think they are going to be one of my new best friends
on this diet. I’ve never had them before now…I wonder how they
compare to rutabaga, which I have also never had.

Hi Carole
I too had turnips this week. Haven’t had them for years. I did a roast
in the slow cooker with carrots/onions and then instead of potatoes, I
cooked myself some turnip. Served with butter and salt it was great.
