I guess I am posting this as much to pat myself on the back as to
offer inspiration to others, but I am so happy to report that after
14 days on the Atkins Diet, I’ve lost 10 lbs!!!
After a nice loss of 7 lbs the first week, the scale stopped moving
for several days even though I stayed 100% within the parameters of
induction (except for a scant half glass of Chardonnay during the
SuperBowl). This was frustrating and I was tempted to just cheat a
little many times. But then I reminded myself how I want to look and
did something to distract myself from food, like washed a load of
clothes or worked on an art project or came to this site to read
everyones’ messages! Those kinds of strategies really work for me.
The only time I really start thinking about food outside meal times
is when I am not focused on something more useful.
Anyway, when I woke up this morning, I just felt lighter. Sounds
stupid, but when I got on the scale, lo and behold, 3 more lbs gone.
It’s a big boost and incentive, cuz I was getting a little depressed!
I still have 56 to go, but when I think how much meat is in a 10 lb
package of hamburger and realize that that much flab is gone off my
body, the 10 lbs lost is a LOT!
So…to everyone who is frustrated, hang in there!

I am going to the Olive Garden to celebrate a birthday in a week and
am wondering what the best bet is for an Atkins friendly meal? I am
up to 30 carbs a day now. I am thinking the soup and salad and just
eat around the beans and bring my own salad dressing. Is anyone
familiar with the menu to kow if they have a grilled chicken or
steak dish I can get and just have veggies instead of pasta? My
favorite dish there is Chicken Marsala but I know if I eat that, I
will have used my carbs for a week or so….. It would be cool if
we could get a list of meals at resturants that are Atkins friendly
so we can prepare in advance when we go out. Best advice of course
is not to eat out but sometimes it can not be avoided so easily…..
Anyone want to work on creating a list of Atkins friendly meals at
the big chains? Is there a way to put it in the data base here?

Just to let you guys know, if anyone’s looking for size 14 or 16

Am I right in thinking that we can have REAL whipped cream? I am
imagining (after induction) jello smothered in whipped cream
sweetened with a little bit of Splenda right now…..

has a low carb chicken plate that is
quite good and not too expensive for when you don’t feel like
cooking. Total of 7 carbs and is 3 pieces of chicken and a serving
of green beens.

Well.. it’s day 2 and I’m feeling good.. no cravings at all and blood sugar is
better then it has been in months..
Is there a place for meal planning? I’m still trying to come up with a grocery
list for hubby. I have 2 others in my family who are in good weight.. but we
still want to cut down on the sugar/carb intake.. esp for my 6 yr old daughter
who is showing early signs of Diabetes.. (tho the Dr. says it’s ok..dont think
they are suppose to have a fasting count of over 200) (we are looking for a new
Dr. now.. )
Anyway.. everything is going good..

I just felt like expressing my sorrow over the abduction of Carlie
Burcia from Sarasota Florida. I’m sure everyone’s seen the
surveillance tape of her capture by now. My heart aches for her and
her family.
My daughter Kayleigh is also in 6th grade like Carlie. Kayleigh’s
friends are allowed to walk to each others’ houses alone, and she
just doesn’t understand why I won’t let her do the same. I try to
give her as much freedom as possible, but I draw the line at being
alone outside. I bought her a cell phone with a tracking device, so
if, God forbid, something were to happen, she could hopefully be
tracked. I feel paranoid, yet justified in doing this.
Somehow I feel confident that Carlie will be found alive.

I am out of ketosis and I don’t know why. I keep my carbs under 20–
well under 20, like 13. Last week I was eating 1 cup of broccoli or
cauliflower and 2 c. lettuce. I ate some sugar free jello with
whipped cream, and I’ve been eating the bars so those things aren’t
new for me. When I get to something new, I’ll say so! On Monday, it
was my first day of “work” so I had to eat on the go. For breakfast,
I had like 3 slices of bacon and 1/2 of a slimfast low carb bar.
That was 1 carb. for lunch I had 2 cups of lettuce with 1/2 a
chicken breast, 6 little smokies beef sausages, and some jello and
whipped cream. This was maybe 6 carbs. For dinner I had a low carb
wrap from subway (8 grams of carbs)Then I ate 1 cup of cabbage and 3
little smokies which was 3.2 grams of carbs, for a total of 18.2
carbs. I have never had the cabbage before. I also drank 6 ounces of
Super Dieters Tea. There was no nutritional information for it. I
just assumed it was safe. I got up yesterday to find I was no longer
in ketosis, and I still am not today. I don’t know what I did wrong.
Am I just so super sensitive to carbs that I can’t have over like
13? Did the cabbage mess me up? Tomorrow will be week 2 of
induction. I have lost 5 lbs. Well, actually, after taking a
laxitive last night and going to the potty this morning, the scale
indicates that I’ve lost a total of 7 lbs. Help! What do I do. I am
obsessed with the keto sticks anyway. I got so sad that I felt like
eating a bag of potatoes and a cake. I am still on shaky ground now.
I feel like going in the kitchen and sabotoging this. Help me please!
