Atkins Induction Newbie

Hi there:
My name is Tony
I’ve recently evolved from a Candida/Cave-man Diet onto what now looks like
an Atkins Induction Low-Carb Food Plan as part of my Overeaters Anonymous
recovery.
The only main difference between the Candida/Cave-man Diet and Atkins
Induction is my giving up the Yogurt, Fruits, and Nuts.
Over the years, I’ve tried to follow a number of different food plans, diets
and regimens which all seemed to include too much carbohydrates for me.
I have finally discovered that I am allergic to so many carbohydrates, that
even a sensible food plan that had moderate amounts of bread, rice, or
potatoes etc.. was sheer poison for me. even a couple of ounces of carbs
would through me into allergic reactions and I would blow up like a balloon.
I started a “low-to-no” carbs diet a month ago under my doctor’s
supervision.
No carbs doesn’t really work since there are “hidden” carbs in everything,
and absolutely “NO” carbs also gets me into really bad headaches and kidney
trouble.
I’ve gradually fallen into a basic Atkins Induction Diet.
Also I have really high bad Cholesterol so I have to be careful with the
high fat part of the AI diet.
Would substituting 3-4 tbs. Flax seed oil per day for the high fat be a good
move for me?
So here’s the score after 4 weeks of what started out as a Candida/Cave-man
Diet and is now Atkins.

carbs in black tea?

Hi,
I saw an earlier message saying .5 carbs per cup of tea. Does
anyone know if that figure assumes one is putting milk and/or sugar
in the tea? I drink mine straight but I drink A LOT of it
throughout the day.

Looking for a coffee creamer substitue

I am looking for a half-way decent coffee creamer substitue. I used to drink
my coffee with 4/5spoons of non daiy creamer- but not anymore- today I used
condensed milk 2 spoons has 3 carbs.

I don’t think we are supposed to worry about the calories but
I put them on here anyway.
Normally that many would have me going crazy if I was
trying to lose weight

It is a serious shame that so much time and effort has been spent on the
topic of grammar-because from what I understand we are here to learn and live
about the Atkins way or nutrition.
I am sure that most people can find the delete button-take what you like from
this group and leave the rest. (or delete the rest)

Ingredients:
1/2 of a 3-oz bag of unflavored pork rinds
2 eggs
1/4 cup heavy cream
3 pkts. Splenda
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon egg nog extract (optional) ( I used vanilla)
How to Prepare:
Beat eggs well and then mix with the remaining ingredients and beat again.
Add crushed pork rinds to the egg/cream mixture and allow to sit for 5
minutes. Mixture will thicken to a “gloppy” phase.
Meanwhile, heat skillet or griddle with butter or oil, and when hot, fry
pancake style until golden brown on both sides.Serve with your favorite
low-carb syrup.
This recipe came off another site, so not sure who to give proper credit to. A
nice change from eggs.

really need help –bad

ok group : please brainstorm for me …. I wear braces on my teeth and
yesterday the orthodontist did some wicked things to my braces ,…. the
result is that my upper and lower teeth do not meet ANYWHERE !!! so I
cannot chew …. so far I have been eating scrambled eggs … tuna with mayo
…. and carbolite shakes ( yuck) please give me some ideas i will have
this extra stuff in my braces for 4-8 weeks …. the dentist suggested
mashed potatoes …. chowder soups … well you get the idea … I do not
want to go off this WOE b/c of my teeth ! please give me ALL ideas ….

Question for the group

I am on day 5 of my third week on atkins. During the first two weeks
I lost 13-14 pounds. So far for week 3 I have lost nothing. I have
not changed my eating habits as I’m still eating 20 or less carbs per
day. Has this happened to anyone? Will the weight lose resume?
