It seems to me from what I’ve been reading that if you do this the weight
will come back and quickly??
I am having a hard time figuring this out overall. I was at 170 in Jan and
then in 2 weeks at 156. Haven’t lost since, in fact have gained to 160 (although
I think TOM is controlling that right now). I added a few things in the past
2 weeks but I don’t feel that was unreasonable. If adding 5 carbs now and then
stops weight loss or adds the weight back on so quickly then the hope of
losing to your goal and then “adding back” anything over 20 carbs seems
hopeless.
Maybe if a person’s body is so sensitive to carbs that you can only eat 20 a
day to maintain over the long haul this approach isn’t the right tack to take?
As 20 carbs forever seems to be unrealistic.
Also, my dd (teen) is on this with me and she has the same problem as I do.
145 to start, 2 wks later 136 and now 4 wks later 138. A teen can’t stay at 20
carbs and not be able to make and eat low carb recipes, lc bread, and other lc
stuff once in awhile. This isn’t realistic.
what do you all think?

Atkins vs SBD

Tuesday, August 23rd, 2005

Hi…if any of you saw the Larry King show with Veronica Atkins (or read the
transcript), then you probably heard her say that the SBD is the last phase
of Atkins. After reading both books, I agree with her, so it is just how
quickly a person wants to lose, and how addictive their bodies are to
carbohydrates. I know I have to stick with Atkins, because 5 carbs makes a
world of difference to my body, whereas friends of mine in America can eat
more carbs, follow SBD now, and have no problems. Just my thought on the
subject. If anyone didn’t read the transcript and wants a copy, I have it,
and can send it on to you…I think. I’ll have to ask my computer, since it
seems to have a mind of its own right now..rofl. Barbara in Holland

‘Tool bar….not about Atkins

Tuesday, August 23rd, 2005

Hi Lili…I think that you are right … that seems to be what disappeared.
How do I get a toolbar back? By the way, I’ve so far offered 3 Dutch people
money to help me, but no offers, only promises to come and look at it.. I
feel so frustrated not able to speak to them. Thanks, everyone! (Not
knocking Dutch people, just not able to communicate with them). Barbara in

Hi Guys,
I am new to this group since yesterday morning but am starting the Atkins
induction today. Here is my menu for the entire day, and I certainly hope I can
stick to it; however, I bake wedding cakes for a living and this is going to
be rough at not tasting (a smidgen mind you) of the batter and icing. I know I
have really TNT recipes but for some reason I always taste-tested to be sure,
so keeping a teaspoon out of the batter and icing will be rough. I don’t
know how I am going to handle it as it’s an almost automatic thing, of course, I
could purchase a straight jacket, lol. Anyway, here is the menu for today:
Breakfast
1. Bacon
2. eggs
3. coffee (small cup) with Splenda and heavy cream — hmmm, not sure if that
is allowed on the induction
Snack
1. Slim fast peanut butter bars (I purchased a box of Slim-Fast Peanut Butter
bars and they are really good, are they allowed on the induction? There are
2 gm of carbs in each bar.) OK, I need help here, are these legal for
induction?
Lunch
1. Pot roast (Left over pot roast we had for dinner last night, cooked in a
Crock Pot along with carrots and onions. I know carrots and onions are a
no-no, but is the pot roast legal for today?)
2. Cheese
Snack
1. Deviled eggs (I will not add pickle relish, sighhhh) :) Dinner
1. Chicken
2. Salad
OK, whaddya think? Any suggestions? Oh, PC stands for “pork chop” which my
son called me the other day and all in favor of giving him a good paddling,
raise their hand (btw, he’s 37, lol).
Hugs,
Dottie

Ed and exercise

Monday, August 22nd, 2005

You inspired me to get moving, so since the rains have stopped for now, I
took an hour walk yesterday, and felt great. People take cruises and
vacations to come to this area in Holland, and I stay indoors. But reading
that you walk 6 miles 3 to 5 times week got me to thinking more, and whining
less about exercise.
Thanks to everyone for the inspiration and thoughts, and help with the
computer(lol)!

milestone

Monday, August 22nd, 2005

WEll I have a little mildstone! I started induction on January 4th. My
starting weight was 215. I am now at 200 pounds! First time I’ve been this low
in 4
years!!! Had some setbacks. Biggest being my eye surgery last Monday. I had
both eyes operated on. So I depended on whoever to fix whatever! BUt eyes are
healing very nice. I had something done I have dreamed about for 10 years. Lasik
eye surgery! No more glasses, no more contacts!! My next milestone will be to
apprach my 43rd birthday on March 11, under the 200 mark. I am really
striving foe at least a 5 pound loss.
On another note, I know everyone has suggested flaxseed or psyllium husk to
keep you regular. BUt what is flaxseed oil? DOes it work the same? I would
search a few sites, but after 8 hours on the computer at work, my eyes are
blurry
when I get home.
Denise
Ps. WHen my eyes are up to up, I’d like to post a low card recipe a day. I
got 4 new books, just to much eye strain right now.
Tell your little voices to SHUT UP! I can’t hear mine……

Chili Rellenos should be fine. I make them sometimes but hadn’t
tried them since I start Atkins again. Nothing I know of that would
hurt in them. No carbs, unless there are some in the peppers. I use
long California peppers and they work great. Any kind of cheese you
like. Good luck, let us know how they turn out. Dodie

For Ed and Julie

Just wanted to say I’m about where you are in weight and wanting to
hit the 200 and down. I have been on Atkins for 5 weeks. Had a stall
and couldn’t lose. So had Daphne help me with Veggie soup fast. I
have lost 10 lbs so far. I have 5 more to go to hit 200. So I’ll be
hollering too soon I hope. Ha!

Found at Trader Joe’s………

Sunday, August 21st, 2005

A one pound can of crab meat — it is delicious!
It is a black can in the refrigerated section. My store has some cans marked
$7.99 and some marked $8.99. I don’t see a difference in the cans, and they
always ring up $8.99.
Not a bad deal for all meat! (and it beats cracking those darn shells which
I used to do)
And, unlike some cans of seafood that I have gotten before, nothing “yucky”!
I have been making tons of crab cakes (crab, pork rinds that I have mashed,
an egg and seasonsings, fried in olive oil — yum!), last night I ate the crab
dipped in butter like you would crab legs, except I didn’t have to do any of
the work.
Hopefully you will all have a Trader Joe’s close to you, because I thought
this was a great buy and find. Sorry if it has been posted before.
