Month 2 update

Monday, October 31st, 2005

About 25 pounds down now as I lost another 2 pounds. I am excited
because clothes that were not fitting before are fitting now! Good
health is the best outcome. I feel better and nothing is better
than the increased energy you get from being lighter on your feet.

Hello and good luck to everyone!

I’m very new to Atkins although I’ve heard it really works and
decided to give it a try. I’m waiting for my library to call me when
the book becomes available until then I have been searching the
internet for information and found quite a few good websites. I’ve
started on the induction but I think I’ve screwed up a bit with milk
and peanut butter which I think are no-no’s? So I’m going to start
over again tomorrow and try to follow the menu plan on the atkins
site. I gather that “no sugar” for 1 or 2 weeks means just that and
almost everything I have in my house has sugar in it. That part is
going to be tough for me. Also, I’ve never been much of a water
drinker and it’s been extremely difficult forcing down 8 glass of
water a day and then jumping up every 15min to run to the pot. Does
this part kind of go away eventually? Or do I need to invest
in “Depends”? Thanks for being here for me!

mom’s update

Sunday, October 30th, 2005

Well, the easy part is over. Mom went up to surgery at 2. The Dr. thought she
was in an auto accident, the knee is shattered so bad. She broke the
shattered the tibia, and broke the fibula. He wasn’t to worried about the ankle.
It
was a clean break. But the knee is totaled. They cleaned up the bone fragments,
and put pins and screws in. She has 2 big screws or pins coming out of the
shin. And some kind of external bar to keep the leg stable and help it heal. She
will need an artificial knee in a year. I have to go to class to learn how to
clean these pins and screws, so they don’t get infected. She gets a dose of
Demerol every 6 minutes. It was a very long and tiring day. Hopefully we can get
some sleep tonight. She is going to be one grumpy momma bear tomorrow. She
starts therapy. She is still in Jefferson hospital, and will be there for a
while. Will keep everyone updated.

You can have the sugar free jello with real whipping cream as a

I ate sugar free jello everyday the first 2 weeks of atkins. I lost 17
pounds so it didn’t stall my weight. Sharon

searching for recipies

Saturday, October 29th, 2005

I am looking for recipies for the baking mix. I miss bread type
things the most, so want to find different kinds of things to make.
I dont eat chocolate, and most on the atkins site are chocolate ..
any suggestions?

Hi Rosie….From everything I’ve read, sounds like your doctor is right
on…it may be fast, it may be slow, but it will come off. When I started
gaining again, it was because I was eating and not thinking of calories. I
can’t eat lots of fat, lots of everything else, and expect to lose, now can
I? LOL. Oh, well, I did try and found out it doesn’t work. Back to the
book…grrr! I hate control….ROFL. I want to do it my way, gang, and
guess what…for me it doesn’t work, never did and never will. KISS …keep
it simple, stupid applies to me generally on things like this. When I start
to go outside of the boundaries, problems come up. I’m on your
team..Rosie…you will see results….Barbara

Cauliflower..

Hi Susan. Yes, I only add cream, butter and crunchy bacon. I cook mine
really soft(sometimes steam them), mash them and add the butter and bacon. I
microwave bacon daily now, to the crisp stage, and I love it for my crunchy
needs. Success…Barbara
