Newbie with lots of questions :-)

Hello All,
I decided to do the Atkins thing last week so I ordered the book and
while I was waiting for the book to arrive I was reading all your
wonderful posts and learning allot. Well, I got the book on friday, read
it over the weekend and officially started the diet on Monday (so far so
good :-)) I am confused with some inconsistencies though. In the book it
said nothing about limiting the amount of meat. The only thing it limits
(that was allowed) is cheese and veggies. Where did you guys get where
you could only have 4 ounces of meat a day? He kept saying in the book
that if you’re hungry you must eat. Well, what is there left to eat if
everything is limited? If a person wants 12 slices of roast beef then
(according to the book) he should have it :-) Also the book incorporates
diet jello into the meals but I’ve read on here that that’s not allowed.
Also how do you guys count carbs when you only use a handful at a time.
The carb counter I have usually counts things by the cup or half a cup.
If I only want 2 or three pieces of bell pepper in my egg, how do I
count that?
My brother-in-law came in to the kitchen this morning when I was cooking
bacon and he said “Bacon? On a diet? They’re screwin with you. You’re
never going to lose weight eating bacon!”
How do I respond to that? :-) Last night my husband said that he worries about me cause he doesn’t
think this diet is safe but he said since it’s that important to me
he’ll support me any way he can (what a guy :-)) Anyway, I’m sure I have
other questions, just can’t think of them right now. Thanks so much for
your advice.

Susan (still very confused :-))
