So Excited. . Post Weekend Report

Sunday, April 23rd, 2006

For those of you interested, I thought I’d post a little about my
weekend. In case you don’t remember, my boyfriend was flying up to
Northern NY from NYC to see me this past weekend. We hadn’t seen
eachother since Valentine’s Weekend since which time I have dropped
about 40 lbs, going from a 22 to a 16. I haven’t sent him any
photos, but he knows I was on a diet. I had already lost about 20
lbs when he was here in Feb. Well, I came out of the weekend with
mixed feelings. He seemed thrilled to see me and spend time with me
but he never actually mentioned how he thought I looked, not even
when I put on that fancy black dress I was so excited to buy that was
4 dress sizes smaller than when I started. I was so diappointed in
his reaction that I wore the dress to dinner then changed back into
jeans before we went out for the rest of the evening. All in all the
weekend was positive, and he seemed happy to be snapping lots of
photos while we were out and about doing the more touristy stuff.
But I guess deep down I had hoped for a bigger reaction. . . . well,
ANY reaction. The closest we came was when we stopped by my mother’s
house and she said, “Doesn’t Amanda look great??” and he just
replied, “Uh, huh.”. Oh well, perhaps my dress sizes won’t be the
only thing I’ll be shedding in the near future!!!

Hi,
I am a newbie here. I have done Atkins before in the past. I
couldn’t get past the Induction Phase. I will restart Atkins on
Sunday, since it is the beginning of the week.
I will need a lot of support cause I am the only one in my family
that will being changing my lifestyle of eating. My husband lost 40
lbs a year ago not doing Atkins but cutting out his soft drinks and
fried foods and eating out a lot. But, those pounds of his is coming
back on slowly. He also needs to join me but he will not let go the
potato chips. I am trying to convince him to give it a shot for at
least 2 wks.

I would like to introduce myself if I may….

Hello everyone,
My name is James and I am from Michigan.
This is my first full day of the induction level and I mus say it
is one of the hardest thing I have ever done in my life. My daily
routin usualy consists of maybe about six pots of coffee,(Thats right
I said 6 pots), and a candy bar everytime I turn around.
At this time I weigh 233 pounds and my target is to get down to
190. Now I believe in my self enough that I can reach this goal, but
they way I feel right now at the end of my first day, I am going to
need some help. Right now I suffer from an extreeeeem head ach and I
know its because my body wants that sugar and crap that it has gotten
used to in the past 32 years.
All I ask from everyone here is just to pass along some
encouragement from time to time. Please support me so I can support
others.
Thanks a bunch
JAMES

Hi i am new and in need of help

Saturday, April 22nd, 2006

Hi my name is Geri and i am in need of some help. i am not sure what
is going on.. I lost a good 18 pounds since may 1st. I was also sick
with bronchitis which made it easier. I switched medications which
was good too since i now have much more energy and the side effect is
supposed to be weight loss. I am going up slowly on the medication
tho, because of some strange side effects.. anyway, i have now been
stuck at 280 for about a week and cannot budge. I called the Atkins
center and they said well maybe not enough fat and not enough carbs..
so i upped the fat and carb intake and still no movement on the
scale. i am starting to exersize a bit more, since my life has been
pretty much sitting on the couch for the last 4 yrs. really. all day
and night. I rejoined the Y. I went and did some swimming wiht my
son the other night and did 15 min on the tread mill yesterday. I
have to go slow also because of the new medication. can cause
dehydration. I am drinking 2 glasses of water morning noon and night
and every other time i think about it..so about 8 a day. these are
good size. I will give you what i ate yesterday and see what you
guys think..maybe i need to do a fat fast for a week.. i was on anti
biotics for 10 days..thanks geri

Hi Everyone,
I’ve been in lurk mode, and decided to step out. I’ve been doing Atkins since
the 19th of April and am now down 24.5 pounds. This is so thrilling. I’m still
on induction levels because I started out with 153.5 pounds to lose, so I have a
long way to go. I did add nuts, though.
So… hi to everyone :) Nicole

I’m planning to start the atkins diet this week. First I need to draw
up a shopping list, if any one has any suggestions what I should buy
it would be a great help.

New, lightheaded, looking for answers

Friday, April 21st, 2006

I’m new to the group, as well as atkins low-carb living, and after my
first week of induction I have to say I haven’t been able to shake
this light-headed dizzy feeling I get about the middle of the day, or
the end of the day, or all the time. My atkins buddy just told me to
eat half a cookie because my body can’t handle the lack of blood
sugar, but that doesn’t seem right. any suggestions for how to get
around this?
also, what kind of desserts can you eat during induction? i’m
dying. is this new atkins-friendly ice cream good stuff?
ALSO, what is the difference between carbs and net carbs??
