Chocoholism

Hi group. I just joined in the hope that someone in this group has
any idea how I can beat my chocoholism. I’ve started and restarted
Atkins Induction 20 or 30 times now over the last 4 years but I
always weaken. The weight doesn’t fall off me like it does some
others: I have to be extremely strict or nothing happens at all.
I have long since eliminated pasta, fizzy drinks, tea, coffee, milk,
alcohol rice, bread, cakes and biscuits (UK here) 100% without
missing them. But it’s the chocolate. Every day I say “right, today
is the first day of my new, clean, chocolate-free life”. But I hear
it calling me and I always give in.
At 310 pounds (and I am very short) I’m told that my weight now
endangers my very existence. Why didn’t this frighten me into
compliance?
I’ve spent many hours searching my soul for an answer to this
chocoholism. My life is as perfect as a life can be - apart from the
weight.
Has anyone on this list had a similar addiction and how did she
overcome it?

    Hi!
Sorry I am a bit late with this reply… I’ve been away for a few
days and am just now catching up on messages.
Like you, I also had a chocolate addiction when I started atkins, and
also like you I went in search of a substitute. What worked for me
was a simple recipe given to me on another group list. When you feel
the need for something chocolate-flavoured and sweet, try mixing some
cream cheese, splenda, and cocoa together. It worked for me during
the difficult start up point. I am now in month four and the
cravings have all but dissapeared :-) Debbie
