I just had a breakthrough… after being stuck for a month, the scale
just budged downward again.
Weight is not coming off fast with this diet, but I am not hungry
either.

I have been on a low carb lifestyle since last Jan 12th. I have lost 75
pounds. I plan to gear back up to induction after the New Year and start in
on
losing 50 more pounds.

pound.

Maria,
Have you entered your meals into fitday to see if you are getting enough
calories, enough fat, not too much protein, etc??? Or post exactly what you
are eating on the list to see if anyone has some ideas to help you out. Did
you measure to see if you are losing inches?

Great! May I ask where you live in NC? Email me privately if you are more
comfortable with that. Atkins has worked wonderfully for me. I do love meat
and high fat foods though. .LOL. It was tough the first few weeks getting
“unaddicted” to carbs.. But, now, honestly, I do not miss them at all. It is
VERY rare that I take a tiny bite of anything high in carbs. I am so
relieved that I do not feel at all like I am dieting. I do not feel deprived
at
all. I am full and satisfied and even when I stay on a “maintenance” type
program and do not watch my carbs as closely ( like when one is on induction)
I
have continued to lose. I do lose much more slowly when on maintenance (
maybe 2 pounds a month) But, I know when I go back on induction, the weight
will start to come off quickly again. It is reassuring to know that I can live
this lifestyle and not gain the weight back! My cholestrol and trigs have
came down too. Wish me luck!

Hi Katie,
www.fitday.com - it is a wonderful way to keep track of what you are eating.
Just enter all of your food for the day and it will break down the
fat/protein/ carbs, how many calories you are eating, etc.

Maria,
Are you sure you are eating enough calories? How about entering all of your
food for the day into fitday and see where you stand?
When you say lots of water, what does that mean? 64 oz plus 8 for every 25
lbs. you want to lose???

Dear Em
What is a ‘cup’? I have lots of different cups in my house, all of them
different sizes.
Maria
February 11th, 2007 at 2:35 pm
Do you have a measuring cup? That would be the cup.
Carol
February 11th, 2007 at 5:15 pm
I have a set of measuring cups but the largest wouldn’t hold even a
small apple.
How many grammes or ounces is in ‘a cup’?
Maria
February 12th, 2007 at 11:32 pm
I wasn’t suggesting that I eat an apple !!!!! I was just trying to give
you an idea of the size of the cup!
In the UK a cup is not a unit of measurement.

Maria
A *cup* is a standard size of measure. It would not be one of your regular
cups that you drink out of. It would be a glass measuring cup, with
measurements marked on the sides, or a set of measuring cups in graduated
sizes; from
1 cup to 3/4 cup to 1/2 cup to 1/4 cup.

Sharon:
Maybe if you think of it not as “cheating” or “being good” but as doing
what your body needs it might help. I’ve been overweight all my life
and addicted to bread, noodles, potatoes, cookies, you get it, right? I
treat that stuff now like I’m allergic to it, which I believe I am. If I
eat that stuff it causes me to have heartburn like you wouldn’t believe
and I feel sick. I also have an illness that makes me metabolically
resistant so I have to eat even less carbs to be half as successfull,
but it’s working, slowly. Keep your chin up and if you feel tempted,
email us. You can do this.
