Shari :) Have some cheese, or tuna with mayo, or deviled eggs, or olives, or some
avocado. All these will help counteract a sweet tooth.
Remember that Induction is about breaking our addiction to sugar and carbs.
It’s best to fight the sugar monster, rather than surrendering to it, even
in sugar free form.
It’s only two weeks, and it’s important to give yourself a strong foundation.

Newbie: Please help me!

Wednesday, February 28th, 2007

I just started Atkins on Monday. I’m really liking it. It’s
amazing how I’m not really craving things! I’ve never had that
before. But, my concern is, I didn’t realize that cool whip wasn’t
allowed during this phase. So, do I now need to start induction
over again since I ate it 3 days out of this week, or…???
Thank you in advance for your help. I look forward to sharing and
learning!

NY Style Cheesecake

Tuesday, February 27th, 2007

This one ROCKS!!!!
16 oz cream cheese at room temp
3 eggs
1 C. sour cream
1/2 vanilla bean scraped
12 packets Splenda
-Blend all ingredients until smooth.
-Pour into Springform pan (spray the pan with nonstick spray)
-Bake in water bath at 350 degrees for 1 hour, keep an eye on the
water bath and add water as needed.
-after an hour, turn off the oven, open the oven door slightly, and
let it cool in the oven.
2.8 carbs per serving, this makes 12 servings.
I like to make this one, cut it into the 12 pieces and then freeze
them. When I need a sweet snack, I take on out of the freezer and
stick it in the microwave on low for about 30 seconds, or else I pop
one in the fridge at night to thaw for the next day.

My Diet

Tuesday, February 27th, 2007

Well today I weighed in for the 1st time since I started Atkins on
Monday and I have lost 6 lbs even though I did 34 carbs on Wednesday.
Diet has not bothered me that much either.
Can you stay on induction longer than 2 weeks? Is it harmful?

Easy Cheesecake

Tuesday, February 27th, 2007

This recipe says to make this with Lemon sugar free jello, but you
can use any flavor. . I like raspberry. For a few more carbs, you
can also use sugar free chocolate pudding mix and make it chocolate
cheesecake. Play with it, but if you come up with a good combination
you have to share!!!
1 pkg sugar free lemon jello
1/3 c boiling water
1/3 c cold water
1/2 c whipping cream
2 pkgs splenda
2 8oz packages cream cheese
-Dissolve the jello in boiling water and then mix in the cold water
-In a large bowl, beat whipping cream until stiff and add Splenda
-Blend jello mixture and cream cheese in the blender / food processor
-Transfer cheese mixture to large bowl and fold in whipped cream
mixture until blended
-pour into pie late and refrigerate 2 hours before serving.
5 net carbs per serving / makes 8 servings
I like to make this and divide it into 8 little tupperware
containers. I have them in the fridge and then there’s much less
temptation to make that slice of cheese cake extra large, it’s
already in the appropriate serving sizes.
Enjoy!!! This one is a family favorite.

In this order, mix 4 tbsp cream cheese, sprinkle cinnamon, 2 packets
splenda, splash of vanilla and 2 eggs. Mix it very well and put into
a microwaveable bowl. Microwave on high for 2 minutes and flip out
of the bowl. Top with Frosting made of 1 T cream cheese mixed with 1
pkt splenda and cinnamon to taste.

Lost!

Tuesday, February 27th, 2007

First - I am keeping my mental calorie intake at or around 1600 2000 and
carbs at 20 or less.
Second - eating all this fat and protein is SO easy (being on
induction).
Third - I just lost 6 pounds since last Saturday (a week ago, Day 1 of
induction).
There is hope! I even put in time at the gym this week (4x’s). The gym
is going to have to become habit, but eating low carb is so to be like
2nd nature to me. It is easy with all the variety out there. Now onto
Week 2 of Induction! Good luck this week ladies (and men). Enjoy your
foods today!

New to the board

Sunday, February 25th, 2007

Hi everyone!
I’m new here! Just started Atkins on New Years Day. I really don’t
have much to lose as I’m not that big to begin with, but I’m liking
this plan so far. I was a major carb addict so this is a big change
for me. Looking forward to chatting with you!

Calorie help!

Sunday, February 25th, 2007

I am freakin’ out if I go above 2000 cals a day. I lost very little the
last time I was doing low carb because my cals were too high. By lunch
time I already have 1500 cals with the ground beef and cheese and eggs
and fats. What is the optimal caloric intake for a person of 200 pounds?
I go to the gym 3x’s/week for 45min. To 1 hour. Help! I do hope this
works!! I am on Day 7 and don’t feel like I have lost a thing. If
anything I am feeling so full and bloated. Also, here is my journal for
the past 7 days………
