Coconut

Ok. Ive been reading back at some of the coconut messages. What
exactly does one do with it. Just take a spoonful a day or can you
use it in cooking. If so, has anyone got any atkin friendly recipes
that use coconut oil.

ps this is my second time round with atkins. Did it 2 years ago and
lost 45lbs but slowly put it back on while reintroducing carbs :(

Basically, replace cooking fats (butter, oils) with it. I have a hard time
getting my calories in, so I have learned to nibble onit (solid) throughout
the day (though I started with this very slowly. I would just scrape some
up with my fingernail and let it dissolve in my mouth. I have worked up to
little 1/4 t sized chunks, now. I just can’t lick it off the spoon like
some can, nor can I do shots of it or pour it into other beverages (after
    melting it) … I can’t affort the “H” effect (I forgot what it’s called,
but Shari went through it — as your body detoxifies you feel kinda flu-ish
for several days). I am opting for a micro-detoxification (LOL), so that’s
how *I* do it. Eventually I will figure out how to get my intake to 3-4 T a
day, which is where you are supposed to see optimal benefits, but I just
cant handle that right now. HTH! (BTW, I lurk on that group too — you have
to take some of that other stuff in context ;-) Kristina

Robyn, how much are you taking? Also, I think the amount of sickness is
proportional to the amount of toxins you have in your body. The oil forces
the toxins out, so that’s what gives you yucky symptoms. Maybe you are
    pretty toxin-free! :-)
