Sorry to hear that you ‘both’ will be stuck in that place for a while!
Don’t they have a cafeteria in that hospital? You should be able to get
eggs (omletes), and salads there at the least, and you would only be gone a
short time. If you are going to be stuck there for so long, it may be worth
investigating. It’s not that the tiny piece of apple pie is so bad, but it
will trigger sugar cravings and hunger that will make your *next* food
choice even more difficult. Give Koti a hug and tell her that we are
thinking about her! Take care, Kristina
I’m with you, Kristina. If you are going to be there for any length of
time, Denise, you will want to speak to the dietician if you are getting your
food served with Koti. Let the dietician know that you need to be eating low
carb for your health. (It’s true.) Let them know that you want your meat
without gravies and you need vegetables other than corn and carrots, and you
don’t want potatoes. Ask for eggs and bacon or sausage for breakfast. Let
them
know it’s important for you to stay healthy to help with your daughter.
I had a friend who was in a very bad accident that had to spend several
weeks in the hospital, and she talked to the dietician and only had a few
mistarts on get her low carb needs meet.
You can do it, you just have to be assertive and talk to the dietician in
charge.
