Tip of the week - treat to add fat in to your day

Saturday, June 23rd, 2007

Looking to add calories and fats to you diet?? Soften 1 brick of cream
cheese in the microwave. Add SF Torani syrup to taste and blend well. Put
in refrigerator to harden. 2T = 100 calories and only 1 carb (10g of fat).
Tastes like a rich, thick, creamy pudding.
WARNING!! This tastes AWESOME … portion out what you want to eat, and then
put the rest away *before* you start!!
I did this with SF DaVinci Chocolate syrup (a new purchase), and probably
could eat the entire brick in one sitting … if I let myself!! (I have also
done this with eggnog flavor - mmmm!)
Enjoy!

You know I don’t want to be a pooper about this. But I think at this point,
you’re focus should be on your daughter’s health and your health. Go for the
lower carb options, but if you aren’t actively losing weight right now, it’s ok.
Just be making good choices and it will be easier to jump right back into it.
I hope you all get to feeling better soon.

Garlic, diet drinks or sweets…?

Saturday, June 23rd, 2007

Hi SJ,
While technically a diet drink is ok, if you are having problems with a
sweet tooth and *needing* this drink to feed that craving, then it is
probably best not to!! The purpose of the induction is to overcome those
addictions and cravings….as long as you are feeding them, they are going
to stick around. :) Sandee

Hospital food is NOT carb friendly lol

Friday, June 22nd, 2007

Well since I am staying here they are feeding me. For breakfast they
brought me frosted flakes, a cinamon roll, 2 oz scrambled egg and a
link sausage. Well I ate the sausage, eggs and Koti’s bacon gave her
my cereal and cinamon roll. Its not gonna be easy to get my calories
in here….We don’t know when she is gonna come home. They say if we
are lucky it will be Sunday but not to cross my fingers on this. She
is in great spirits and not wanting to stay in bed but she is having
real issues with her breathing especially when she is off the oxygen.
This is NOT gonna be easy to do…..

Garlic, diet drinks or sweets…?

Friday, June 22nd, 2007

I thought garlic was on the list of things that we could have but on
fitday a teaspoon of garlic powder is 3 carbs. Can anyone clear this
up for me?
Also, what have people found with drinking diet pops or other diet
drinks, is one a day ok, should I not drink them at all? I guess I’m
just struggling with staying away from sweets and a diet pop is the
only kind of sweet thing that I can think of that has no carbs.
Thanks! SJ

HI All. Well I won’t here much in the next few days. My 5 yo was
admitted to the hospital today. She either has pnuemonia or RSV we
are still waiting for the blood work to come back. they have started
her on antibiotics and she is hooked up to oxygen. It took 6 nurses
to hold her down to take the blood sample poor thing. She is having
serious trouble breathing as it is.
I swear if it wasn’t for my chicken salad with Mayo I wouldn’t have
made it through today. Even with all my stress I managed to eat 1113
cal and less than 6 carbs(ok Ididn’t get my 2 c of veggies). the
hospital left a tray for me(ovcourse carb laden) I pulled the breaded
skin off my chicken didn’t eat the veggies(carrots and peas) but I
did eat part of my fruit, I had a few grapes and 2 small peices of
watermelon. I know I may have messed up a bit but it was good.
Anyhow will check in with ya more tomorrow.
Denise

I need help!

Thursday, June 21st, 2007

I am having a little difficulty coming up with real foods to fill my
calorie/fat ratio. I know you all have been talking about pepperoni
and cream cheese, but what other ideas are there for great portable
calorie and fat laden snacks?
I seem to be able to get my carbs in, but find it difficult to get
the calories in.
Help from anyone would be awesome!

Way to go!!! Woo hoo!! I KNEW you could do it!!
Now, tomorrow, eat more than one piece of bacon … nibble on it through the
day. (That will help with both calories and fat). Got cream cheese?? I
hate to sound like a broken record, but a dab of it folded around a
pepperoni slice (like a micro taco) is awesome!! It’s a symbiotic
relationship, where both those ingredients taste so much better than either
of them separately. DH doesn’t particularly like either, but once he tasted
this ’snack’ … well, I now hide the pepperoni because he’ll eat the entire
bag in one sitting if it’s with the cream cheese!! LOVELY way to get both
calories and fat in!! A perfect snack!
Anyway, I’m proud of you!! Keep it up. Look at that pie chart!! A thing of
beauty … perfect proportion of fats to carbs to protein! And look at that
steady ’stairway’ going down on your weight chart!! It doesn’t even look
like you are at a stall, but a nice steady downward trend. You lose, your
body adjusts for a bit, and then you lose again! It’s perfect!! Don’t be
so hard on yourself — you didn’t gain all this in a month, so don’t expect
for it to come off that fast either (any faster, and you would have negative
repercussions anyway! (Think saggy skin, for one.)
Remember - “sticks, not scale” this week. How do you feel? Do you take any
vitamins? Do that little Fitday report and see how your daily numbers are
(I can’t do it from the link you gave me). One day at a time — we’re gonna
have you fit as a fiddle in no time! Make sure you get your sleep (and
water), and we’ll ‘meet’ again tomorrow! I’m SO proud of you!! Hugs,
Kristina

check out my food log for today! It took effort but I broke 1000 cal.
Now If I can just do it everyday this week. Let me know if anything
looks inapropriate.

it was real hard to hit that number. I nibbled on tuna salad through
out the day. I figuer I will have to eat about this much daily. I
know why I have to eat its just how to eat thats an issue(getting
myself to eat like this daily)
